WHO: Sponsored by Jiffy Lube, Here We Build and Associated Sound. Speakers will include Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna, Sacramento City Council Member Rob Fong, original Kings managing partner Gregg Lukenbill, Here We Build creator Carmichael Dave, organized labor leaders and others. The list is growing rapidly.

WHY: To give the grassroots fans of the Sacramento region the opportunity to be heard, to express their love and appreciation for the Kings and the Maloofs, and to voice their desire for the Kings to stay in Sacramento. Doubt I can make this one. Will either be in Placerville area for a work-related site visit or in Davis getting my son. The last minute scheduling is hard to plan around! Would LOVE to be there for this one!

Now that the weather is better up here, we are trying to get some golf in, but if we don't play tomorrow, I will try to come down and support the effort!

Darn, I'd like to be there, but not enough notice for me to get time off from work. I hope its a good crowd, though!

Looks like I might be able to make it after all. Won't know for sure until this afternoon.....

Leaving in a few mins.. Hope to see you all there.. If a Maloof is there I hope to tell him that I would be willing to donate my season tickets for next year if they get somethign going with an arena. I am sure a lot of us would be willing to do the same.

I just want my team to stay in Sac.

Really. Now that's a fairly interesting development.

Every once in a while there are signs that the Maloofs are actually fairly saavy. This move would give them leverage in the talks with Anaheim. But it's the talks with Anaheim that have lit a fire under Sacramento to get an Arena done in the first place. Maybe we're all just being player by Joe Maloof... so the Kings get their arena!

Watched the majority of this, I wish I could have had lunch with Lukenbill when I was 18, he sure has a lot to say.

And Sacramento could have had the Raiders? WHAT!?!

Yah his speech was easily the best.. Nothing was really said at the rally though. I was disappointed with that.

Back in the 90s Sacramento was going to be the Raiders home. We had the OK from Al Davis and we were building the new stadium. Then the things fell through and Davis threatened to move the team to "Irwindale", but ended up moving them back to Oakland.

They actually sold merchandise that had "Sacramento Raiders" logos and stuff.. They were 99.999% guaranteed to come here had we build the stadium. When that stadium fell through we lost our chance.

I didn't know all that about the raiders. That it was practically guaranteed they'd move to Sac if an arena was built? Can this city get anything done? Seriously. They almost had an NFL team, and lost it because they couldn't get an arena built, and then a few years later didn't take the Kings threat of needing a new arena seriously.

How can the city possibly not have taken this situation which has gone on for a decade more seriously, whne it was their lack of an ability to build an arena that cost them an NFL franchise? Then you have the rivercats needing to go to west sac sandwiched inbetween. Unfreakingbelievable. One thing is clear, and that is that Sac doesn't, and hasn't learned a damn thing from their mistakes.

Lukenbill always dreamed big. He was part of the team trying to lure the Raiders here with his stadium and cash to move the team. I personally think Al Davis was just trying to get the bids sweetened from other cities. He also organized the March on Baseball. He put together a huge group of fans and bussed them all down to Oakland to watch a game. Nearly filled the upper deck of the Oakland Coliseum. They all wore powder blue shirts to get attention. He must have loved that color since he picked that for the Kings road jersey too. Some think he was a little nuts, but damned if this town didn't have an NBA team called the Kings for the last 26 years and he was the front man for the group that got them here.

Actually, they talked about those blue jearseys on the radio last week. The company that made them used the wrong color. They said they wouldnt charge them and would do the right color. They never ordered the correct color. Free jearseys.

How was the rally for those who went?

Rally was awesome! Carmichael Dave was inspiring and I was truly proud to be a Kings fan.

Turn out was good. See picture below.

2 more City Council meetings before April 18th folks. The fight's not over yet so lets get out there and let our voices be heard! Go Kings!!!

Nah they haven't.. Was a huge deal here though in the early 90s. We already had all the shirts and stuff printed with Sacramento Raiders and stuff.. Was neat. I still have a Sacramento Raiders hat in the attic at my parents house.

It would have made too much sense for them to move here though.. It would have opened the doors for the A's to come as well.

Think of it.. Sac could have had the A's, Raiders, and Kings.. We would have been a booming city with sellouts galore. Would have been huge.. Now we might have nothing.. At least the Rivercats are doing REAL well. Tops in the league in attendance.
