I really, really hate her.
Last year she was covering the finals for the Bee and wrote a column about McDyess, and took the opportunity to rip Webber. So I wrote this email to The Bee:
"Seriously, what is it that Ms. Voisin has against Chris Webber? Your readers
would love to know. She got her wish, he's gone now. LEAVE HIM ALONE.
It long ago grew tiresome and her low blow in her article on Antonio
McDyess was completely uncalled for. What is she doing covering the
Pistons, anyways? Trying to make a play for a job in a bigger market?
Good riddance!"
I got this response:
"Thanks for writing.
I am sorry you feel that way about Ailene. She has a reputation as one of the best NBA writers in the country, which is why we are happy she works for us.
Be aware, her job is to be a "columnist" so we pay her to have an opinion. I wouldn't be happy with her if she didn't.
As for her presence in Detroit, we always send at least one writer or columnist to the NBA finals, just like other major papers that cover the NBA. I hope you notice she has been at every game and has been representing the Bee there.
Thanks for reading,"
Now, first of all, in what circles does she have that reputation???? I would love to meet these bozos. My reply to the editor was as follows:
"I appeciate the response. It just seems to me that Miss Voisin has
held a grudge against Webber for quite some time. She was the most
vocal supporter of trading him before the fact, and immediately after.
That is fine. I agree with you that she is a columnist who is supposed
to write with an opinion, as opposed to a beat writer. I just felt
that the column about Antonio McDyess, which has nothing to do with
Chris Webber, did not need cheap shot, especially in the title of the
column."
And early on this season (like after one week) I wrote Voisin herself sarcastically thanking her for helping to push Webber out of town, and she replied that Webber was not the problem...Adelman was, and she thinks Adelman should have been fired "years ago."
She is just so spiteful. She makes following the Kings a drag, at least when you are reading her columns.
