[Rumor] Haynes: Malik Monk made available for trade

Brett Siegel writes, "As of right now, it no longer seems like the Sacramento Kings are a realistic option for a Kuminga trade before Feb. 5 unless another team with the assets Golden State wants is involved. The Warriors continue to signal that they don't want Malik Monk, who has been made available in trade talks since July. There is virtually no interest in Monk around the league because of his contract."

"Please still give us the FRP, even though we massively screwed this entire situation up and are hoping you are dumb enough to bail us out"

Honestly have no idea if Monk's contract is that bad or if it's all spin from Siegel. It's obviously not the value contract we thought it was when he signed it but Siegel works overtime with his Warriors propaganda.
Did some think that it was a value contract? I recall the popular opinion being it was about right on what he was worth

I think some thought because we had a cap on what we could offer that he would leave and therefore he chose us because he wanted to be here.

Don't really want to think long and hard about this because remember there was that whole thing about Fox telling him to "go get his bag" but we've since learned that Fox and Monk don't speak.

Yeah, it was odd that some were still thinking that they were best friends right after the trade happened. There were always just college buddies. Although I wouldn't have guessed that they had a complete fallout. Wonder what it was over?

He was in his wedding party wasn't he? And yet the first real sign of public friction was actually with Recee after the homecoming. I have lots of thoughts but it's baseless speculation.

I just don't see any realistic players on their roster that would do the Kings any good.

Well, I'd say that most of the Bucks' attempts to upgrade their roster around Giannis will require a third team to facilitate, since they have very little that is worth acquiring (outside of Giannis himself, obviously). This complicates things considerably, but I imagine their front office will be spending a lot of time gauging third team facilitation interest around the league across the next several weeks. If they're going to get anything noteworthy done before the deadline, it's not likely to happen in a swap with a single team.

Quick scan says MIL does not control any of their picks until 2031?

At least they got one chip for it.

Yep, whatever else comes of this mess they're in, the Bucks did manage to win a title with Giannis. I mean, it was 50 years between championships for that franchise! If you could guarantee me a Kings title in the next half-decade, but that it would come at the cost of completely mortgaging the future for at least a half-decade following that title, I'd still take that trade-off ten times out of ten.

They could also have a decent rebuild if they traded Giannis but I guess not… Herro, ware and picks is a good offer that’s two possible all stars

They will have a first round pick this year, the worst of their own or the Pels pick. Not full control obviously but that’s their last real trade chip

They can maybe get the Kings out of that contract and that is the only thing the Kings can really look at right now. The two options the Bucks have to trade are Kuz and Portis. Kuz would cut 1 year off of Monks deal but Portis would only cut some of the yearly deal since he has a player option in '27 as well. If Portis could be rerouted, which he should be able to, then the Kings could potentially be off the hook with Monks deal. The Bucks are kind of screwed trade wise because their salary structure is completely boned. That Lillard situation completely boned them. I can't see them getting LaVine unless it's the same thing where some of those Bucks guys are rerouted.
