Hawes' surgery a success

I am worried about 4 years down the road. Will we have a kid that can't even run up and down the court? He isn't athletic as it stands, so will he be ultra-slow after a few 82 game seasons? He isn't a strong rebounder so what will he be in 4 years?

Not our problem if we don't re-sign him.

So you're saying we just wasted the 10th pick?

No, I'm saying a pick is a pick. You do the best you can and sometimes, for whatever reason, they do or don't work out. So Hawes needed a knee surgery. Not a good omen, but not the end of the world at this point either. Let's see what happens over the course of his rookie contract before writing it off as a blunder to have picked him, huh?

Dude I thought you just said to not re-sign him???

I get what VF says, atleast it's not microfracture again and he's not hurt like Oden.

Oden? I think he'll be fine, he and the surgeon are not on a longstanding first-name basis. Like with Amare, it's a bump in the road, but I foresee no "Out of Service" nickname in his future.

No, I think what Warhawk was saying in response to Gary, who was worried about what might happen "4 years down the road" is that a rookie contract is for three years. If Hawes doesn't work out and we opt not to re-sign him, he won't be our problem in four years.

:)

The biggest problem with Greg is that he has a worn out and injured body of a 35 y.o. veteran (according to doctors). I hope he will be all right but it is not just a single problem.

About Hawes ... YES, it is was/is a bad news. I did not know that he had that surgery. But I am not going to "bury" him already. Not yet ....

I don't like all this history of knee problems.
Well, we can only HOPE that the worst of his problems are behind him, injury-wise with this knee, or any other part of his body, for that matter. I doubt very seriously he'll be the white Ralph Sampson.:D Now lets see what this kid can do!!

If I'm going to waste energy, I've decided I won't waste energy fearing the worst for Hawes, I'll waste it hoping for the best for him. :)

I'm not really worried about his knee's right now, until something major happens I won't worry.

He had some clean up and I'm hoping he gets healthy quick because I'm pretty excited to see him play again.

Wow... I've seen stuff where they were concerned that one of his legs being slightly longer than the other might stress his hip and back, but nothing where they said he had the body of a 35 year old vet...

Link?

Correct.

"Just this week on the telephone, there was an Eastern Conference executive studying Greg Oden’s pre-draft physical in his office. Even now, this report still didn’t look like the body of a 19-year old prospect, but that of an older, worn veteran.
“From our (trainers and doctors), there were red flags everywhere,” he said.
The executive started listing the troubled spots – the bulging disc in the back, wrists, the ankles, the hands, a right leg that was an inch longer than the left, and yes, the knees. He wasn’t alone. Several pulled files this week with news of impending knee surgery, and kept wondering if maybe the breakdown of his body was just a matter of time." Adrian Wojnarowski... LINK

There were some other sites but I do not remember where I saw it.
