Grant Hill has decided to sign with the Phoenix Suns to hopefully hitch a ride to an NBA title, leaving the Orlando Magic after seven injury-racked, mostly unfulfilled seasons.

He will sign with the Suns for the $1.2 million veteran's exception, which is all Phoenix was willing to offer.

Hill, whose seven-year, $93 million contract with the Magic expired after the past season, apparently was eyeing the Suns from the start of the NBA free-agency signing period.

It had been reported that Hill had spoken with the Miami Heat and the Detroit Pistons, whom he played with the first six seasons of his career.

A 6 foot-8 seven-time all-star, Hill averaged 14.4 points per game last season with the Magic. He played in 65 games -- the most since playing 67 in the 2004-05 season.

Hill, who arrived in a sign-and-trade in the summer of 2000 to Orlando from Detroit, was expected to team with fellow free-agent star Tracy McGrady to return the Magic to post-Shaq prominence. But he underwent five surgeries on his left ankle and another surgery to repair a hernia, and, in all, played in just 202 regular-season games.

Good, low risk move for the suns. If healthy, Hill can still be a highly efficient player in 20 - 25 min off the bench....My god, I can't believe it's been 7 years since he moved to orlando!

If the magic were interested in him he should sign with them for taking 100 million from them and playing 0 seasons for them to tray and make up for it

It's not his fault he got hurt and honestly would you rather be on a title contender or the freaking magic? Come on man that's a no brainer.

Yeah, exactly my thought. It wasn't like he turned into complete suckitude after signing that 1000 million deal.

At this point of his career, he'd be a fool not to consider joining the winning bandwagon.

Grant Hill is a class act and a nice guy. I wish him every success in Phoenix and I hope he does well.

I want Hill to get a championship... I'm glad he went there, he could be a solid 15 ppg guy there if he gets the PT, and he can stay healthy.

Yeah, I can't help thinking that the Suns plans are to keep him for more than 2 years in their organization (assistant coach or something else).

I hope Grant Hill wins a title there in PHX......he was one of my fav players when he used to play for the pistons . The guy was a class act on and off the court. I am sick and tired of the darn spurs winning titles......boring basketball needs to kept of the national tv in early june for the sake of children !
