Gotta Play the Whole Game .... AGAIN

Folsom Al

Starter
1 quarter of good play + 3 quarters of poor play = 1 loss in standings

Detroit out-hustled, out-played, out-defended, out-everything'ed the King's tonite.

I 100% agree Folsom Al.

The follow-up being, this is a recurring theme, not only this year but years past. Same as rebounds and defense.

My question would be who is to blame? Players, RA, Both? Why do we seem to have the same problems almost every season?

Im gonna say... neither, we made really big moves.. and we had alot of injuries... its hard to coach a team when you really can have them all practice at once... i think a offseason will do wonders for these current players we have.

I 100% agree and think this offseason is very critical and will really define how the Kings will fair out in next few years.

you are not going to beat a defensive Team like Detroit with poor offensive execution.Kenny thomas is athletic he can hit the open 15 ft shot can drive to the basket and all,But he is not a smart player he doesn't make intelligent moves with the basketball,He is not made to play the princeton offense he has a shoot first drive first mentality, everything with kenny is straight forward,he gets the rebound and the first guy he looks at in blue he throws the ball that direction no matter who is guarding the guy.He gets the ball and holds it in a position to be stolen from him,he holds the ball in a drive to the basket position and when he get's ready to pass the basketball or look for the cutters he gets the basketball chopped up because he doesn't know how to pass the ball without telegraphing it.When you catch the basketball in that position you are supposed to hold the ball up high protecting the ball from theft and not telegraphing a drive if you want to catch the defense off guard when the shooter coming off the screen is jammed ,But the way he holds the basketball he will never get the ball to the shooter and he will keep bogging down the offense.Kenny's first option is shoot and this is not the motto of how the team is supposed to play and the excuse of get to know the team and off season stuff won't aplly because kenny doesn't have a princeton offense mentality.

When Greg O came into the game the rythym of the offense seemed to get smoother and things stated to flow.Coach adleman doesn't realize that it's not always that you need a shot maker or a guy that can score the basketball that will help you win games.Sometimes you need a guy who can think the game set some solid Big screens, reserve the basketball so you won't committ stupid Turnovers and overall have an intelligent presence on the floor.Greg did this in his little stint in the game he made the pistons settle for jump shots and shut everything down coming into the paint and he gave the Team a thinking presence on the court.

Between mobley and thomas and corliss our Team isn't as smarter as with chris webber and doug christie. The new players are shot first people and that mentality doesn't fit the princeton offense or motion offense period. No ball movement too many telegraph set plays and not enough unselfishness very selfish ONE ON ONE predictable basketball way easy to defend.

We must have been watching a different game.

yeah you definitely watch a different game all the time. You look at the whole game instead of breaking the game down into segments of what is flowing and what is stagnate and when Greg came into the game in my opinion the flow was smoother. You should go a watch the encore or replay look at the segments don't look the baskets scored or any statistical category look at the vibe and rythym of the game.

what bothers me is how we are losing. We are coming down the stretch and there is a lack of effort and a ton of mental mistakes. This should be when they are completely focused on basketball but it seems like their minds are someplace else.

I TiVo it all the time, this game is no exception. You are making things up to say Tag changed the game. Plus, he was so winded by the end of his 5 minutes, he was even more useless.

BTW- I am the only one who thinks it is absurd that RA using Tag for less than 6 minutes costs us this game?

What I Do Know & Feel ...

Is frustration ....

Just when we start to see signs of confidence, improved play, a tad-bit of momentum and team play ... it's gone.

Like Jekyl and Hyde

Detroit played hard .... they deserved the win.

This team is going to continue to have glorious highs and inglorious lows. They are a team in transition, a team struggling to find an identity and a personality. You can't get too ecstatic about the highs and you can't get too morose about the lows.

We, as Kings fans, have been spoiled. We got used to an elite team that was capable of winning on any given night, even with injuries, etc.

Well, fellow Kings fans, that team is GONE. This new group of players is NOT the old team. You do them a disservice when you forget that IMHO. When you add the fact that Skinner couldn't play, the already fragile dynamics of the new core just couldn't get it going.

We watch, we cheer them on and hope for the best and if it doesn't happen, we move on.

GO KINGS!!!!!
