[News] Giannis “discussing future” with Bucks

Without a crystal ball how many years does Giannis realistically have? He's only 30, or is it, he's 30. I don't know. If he has 2 years in the tank, is it a good move if you get prime Giannis for 2 years and then a broken down Cousins/AD type player thereafter?

The wild card in all of that is guys like Wemby may only have 4-5 good years in the league, so maybe you have to.

I mean. He's shown no signs of slowing down and the superstars are playing longer than ever now. He's putting up another MVP level season, so theres really nothing to suggest he's slowing down or will slow down anytime soon.

For me, I get a chance to be the title favorite over the next 5 years with a Giannis/Wemby core, I do it and dont think twice about it. Especially considering its very likely they'll get to keep at least one of Fox/Harper/Castle too

Kind of weak move by Giannis it's not like the Bucks have not been trying to build around him they have made plenty of moves (Lillard, Turner, Holiday), Bucks have just had bad luck with injuries come playoffs. Everyone looking for easy rings thanks to LeBron and KD doing the same crap there rings to me don't mean anywhere near as much as Giannis one. Super weak by Giannis guys compete fake now.

Wait why? I obviously dont want Giannis hurt, but him on OKC or SAS is just a dynasty over the next 5 years. This would slow the trade rumors down

Given OKC is on track to break the record for wins we already have a dynasty. If he goes to the Spurs we just have two.

If he is out for the year (now the team has ruled out an Achilles so maybe unlikely) they become a favorite in the Race to the Bottom.

I’m hoping he lands elsewhere, Atlanta or Miami can put together a good package

Giannis got the Bucks their first championship since 1971 and he has done all he could for the team. He is the franchise leader in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and minutes played. His jersey is going up in their rafters. What more does he have to prove? Both him and the team tried and they see the writing on the wall. It's good for both parties.

The Bucks helped him win the championship by building a quality team around him why does he have to leave?

Giannis on the spurs means that fat **** and the lakers won’t sniff a conference finals the next 5 years. That’s a win for us in my book we ain’t competing anyways

What bothers me is that these guys take up 30-35% of a salary cap and then hold the organisation hostage on the way out for not being able to build a contender around them.

No idea how you police it (probably can't) but I despise the requesting a trade to a specific team BS (probably moreso cause it's never the Kings they are asking to be traded to 😂)

If he or they aren't a contender now it could be very difficult to ever get back there unless they just wait for deals to fall off the books and make a summer push to create a super team down the line. Looking at their cap that would be when Giannis is already 35 or so, so it'd be a wait.

With these aprons it's just that much tougher for a team to retool with players making that kind of money on the cap. We saw how hard it is with the Kings in the post Webber years. It's a game of just lateralling around and hoping fit is the key difference in order to actually make some forward progress. They made as much of a change as they could with Turner, it wasn't enough. They'll be right in that area of too bad to be good, too good to be bad. Outside of them lucking into a Ginobili style swing of some unknown talent (too much video out there on guys these days so this rarely happens anymore) how do they get that talent level and thus asset level up? I think we might see less and less stars sticking with a team long term unless they are just happy to ride out there time on the team they love and then retire.

Interesting. Could be the truth or could be him wanting to control the narrative (other reports have suggested he doesn’t want to be seen as the bad guy)
