It doesn't sound like any former players would be interested in attending his hall of fame induction.

He can't win with elite level talent. He needs 'his' type of players to run 'his' system the way 'he' wants it run. Can't do that with star players. His system takes advantage of a longer than long regular season with lots of back-to-backs and 3 games in 4 night scenarios. He'll win 50+ games with marginal talent, but is rarely ever a threat for a deep run in the postseason. The system doesn't work so well once in a series against the same team with time between games and preparation. You need elite talent to win in the playoffs.

People will point to his Seattle days when he did have an elite PG, an all-star PF and a nice compliment of talent. Of course that team got close once -- because they had an elite talent -- but still disappointed in the playoffs on the whole.

Not being able to win with Team USA makes sense. Because that type of talent doesn't fit his coaching techniques or playing style and won't buy into what he's selling. Paul Pierce's comments echo the thoughts of most.

Well you certainly can't call him a bad coach historically, but he has always been an butthead who wore out his welcome. Always.

Not included above are him running Shawn Kemp out of Seattle, he and Melo loathed each other too. Was the ultimate media coach even before the era of social media. Always jibes and cuts. The only former star not to loathe him was Payton, and that might just be because they are BOTH butthead.

I just again wish that all this had been posted and taken into account last year. It was one of the main reasons I was so concerned about him coming in as a coach. I didn't know he was physically shot as well, although truth be told maybe that was a good thing. Less energy for the fight.

And now he's gone, so it would be nice if people who are confused how he might not work out would read it and say ohhh...., but in the end, its not important now. Onto the next guy. Not hiring a jerk would be a start.

You're right. The bottom line is that it didn't work in Sacramento. Real basketball experts, those that make their living of it, but on top of that also really know what they are doing should have known better. The guy is an extreme kind of coach that will by default make waves. It's a statistical fact that he has done very well record wise during his career and I'm not going to take any of that away from him. He's a great coach when measured by achievements, but I don't like his methods at all. The take home lesson for the future here is that I don't believe that Thibs is the man for this job. While a defensive coach, compared to the offensive Karl, he is a similar dictator as Karl was. That's why I'm rooting for Blatt. He made JR Smith a totally new man and legit starting SG, Dellavedova from nothing to a serious NBA player, Shumpert and Mozgov to playoff level players and most importantly elevated Kyrie Irving's game to a new level (which disappeared with Blatt). He could not handle Bron, but it would take a Riley in the FO to do that (or to even live with it).
