It's in Spanish, but is a very good source. "Marca" is among the best sports newspapers in Spain, and I heard exactly this declarations on the radio from Gasol right now, so IT'S TRUE.

Basically he says he will be with the Spanish National Team in next European (it'll be celebrated next year in Madrid). He says the Grizzlies shouldn't prohibit him to go with his National team, because it wouldn't benefit them    . He also says that he thought sometimes in a change of scenary, and if things don't go better next months he might want to go to other team in the near future where he can win.

Cool, hopefully we can scoop him up and/or KG when they are not happy with their teams this season. KG much more so not only because he is the best player, but also becayse the Wolves really suck and he is going to call it quites with them.

Ummm...

Gasol is the player we NEED!!!!

Not so sure about that, but he's very good and could not but help. Not much of a rebounder though, and still softish even with the beard.

But this all sounds just a tad premature. And maybe even a tad irrelevant if Pao wants to go somewhere to "win" more than the Grizzlies have been doing -- i.e. lower rung playoff team, we mgiht well be at the same level. Of course we pretty much always manage to win at least ONE playoff game before checking out. ;)

Exactly, I wouldn't call us a much of a step up in playoff experience. If you want that you have to go to SA Pao. :D

i agree about gasol. he's not necessarily the answer to the kings prayers--especially on the boards. but he has steadily gotten better every year, with the exception of free throw shooting percentages. he could be the interior scoring option the kings need. when bonzi wells walked out the door, he not only took his rebounding numbers with him, but his ability to abuse defenses inside on offense. SAR and artest both operate inside, but gasol is incredibly difficult to stop in the paint. he's no garnett, but i wouldn't be opposed to starting him at the PF spot for the kings. of course, if he isn't as tough as his makeover suggested last season, then we're stuck with yet another soft frontline. i think he has lost some of his soft reputation, though, and for good reason. he may not be ready to carry a team, but he's damn good, and he'd have some great support around him.

Gasol would be a huge improvment over what we have. We might still be a bit weak on rebounding but he's the type of player if available you don't pass on.

He can go inside, pass the ball (one of the better passers in the league), shoot the ball, rebound the ball, and block some shots. He's kind of the poor mans Garnett. But not that much of a poor mans Garnett. This guy can play the game well. I would say that getting him would be the difference between a Bibby Kings, and a Jason Williams team. We would go from 45 wins to near 55-60.

If we managed to keep Bibby and Artest while getting Gasol, thats a contender, so he would be doing some more winning.

Gasol is a step up from what we've got. It'd be nice to get him if we dont have to trade our core to do it. Plus, I just like Gasol.

who would we trade? i doubt that memphis wants miller and already had bibby and reef....

but i would do a thomas, corliss, vitaly for gasol trade in a heartbeat...

hmm, just dont think so. ive got vitaly and corliss in my trade scenario as well, as enders, who may see some playing time if some injuries occur. other than that theyre just filler. On to the 2 key pieces. First, garcia (personally i like this guy, moreso than Martin and I don't want to see him traded, of course your throwing in KT which makes me think twice about it) he seems like a viable backup to miller, and since they lost Battier would help their defense, assuming he pans out well, which i think he will. Last, and definitely least is KT . Why would Memphis want KT? They got swift Warrik and Rudy Gay. Not only are all 3 younger but theyre probably better. and cheaper.

Depending on who we have to give up, I think we are certainly a better team with Gasol than the Grizzlies are. Even if Brad or Bibby are part of the deal for him, the Artest-Gasol combo would be very competitive.

Gasol might not be the perfect player, but he would give us the shotblocker we desperatley need and another player who can score down low and has a solid jumper.

That said, a brief mention that he might ask to be traded right after he talks about not wanting the Griz to prevent him from playing on the Spanish team next summer is hardly a strong indicator that he will be on the market. However, if he was, he would be infinitley more attainable for us than KG.
