Free agency mega thread 2025 edition!

It sounds wild, but JK is about 5 months younger than Carter. I guess we are actually "rebuilding".
Kuminga came into the league super young after a year in the G-League Ignite system that never really worked out because it failed to really develop anybody like they hope to, then he got stuck deep down the Warriors’ rotation as a rookie as they won a chip, and proceeded to just keep getting put in Kerr’s doghouse despite him looking like their third or fourth best player at times before they traded for Butler.

I do think there’s a really good player there if you use him and develop him properly. Whether the Kings can do that remains to be seen haha

Still reeks of desperation a little. You usually want to actually, you know, have space to be able to make it so the trade isn't so stacked against you. The Kings will likely be paying a star trade toll on someone who hasn't necessarily proved they are one.

Let’s say it’s our 31 (the swap the spurs have) and Devin. What say you to that?

I have mixed feelings on it. We know he can score 20 a game that really isn’t a debate. I think he could defend with time. Shot is ok. Not really a passer. I also love Devin and hate the idea of giving him up but im trying to live in the reality of the front office not liking him much.

The problem is that someone who has proven as a star will never come to Sacramento.

That's why teams in Sacramentos situation usually are best off playing the draft game. The Kings only two buildable star centerpieces in the last 15 years were drafted. Kuminga might be that. Might not. I would much rather this than just tossing things around for things with no potential, but if Kuminga's production kind of stays where it has it's 50/50.

At least if we trade Devin I can finally admit that it’s weird that his mom spends all day posting on social media about how Anthony Carter has been replaced by a lizard person.

What's the matching salary? What's the contract total? I would be shocked if that's what the Warriors would take.
Sign and trade rules mean that it’s like a 2-1 match. Depending on how much that first year is, Dev + Saric + TD might be enough to get it over the line.

That’s a tough one man…. GSW would be commuting daylight robbery for a guy they don’t even want

I don't think so. Assuming of course we don't ship them like 2+ FRP (which, lol). Carter for Kuminga based swap is pretty fair in value. As is Monk, as is DDR

I love Carter, been on the ship since day 1, but Kuminga is absolutely the right swing to take for where we are as a franchise. If he hits, he hits big and gets you out of the middle. And while I don't agree, it sort of seems like we don't value Carter, so why not use him as a trade chip to get better? Especially if we're just going to bury him on the bench.

The risk of course is you're probably paying like 4/100 for "potential", the age and the tools. He hasn't impacted winning yet.
