Free agency mega thread 2025 edition!

I wouldn't be thrilled about Keon being included, but I think it's still a worthy swing on Kuminga. Kings have to take chances on guys like Kuminga to get them out of the middle; even if it does cost you a player like Keon.

It really shouldn't take Keon to get this done though.

So we offer Kuminga the full MLE and see if the Warriors actually are willing to get deeper into the tax to match?

See if the Warriors flinch first l

No way does Kuminga do that. He'll just take the QO and go for unrestricted FA. The Warriors aren't overpaying for anything because the market isn't there.

Yeh I don’t want to lose Keon or Devin but if they do get moved it would need to be for a swing. Kuminga has huge upside, it’s a gamble but since you have depth you could risk it.

Seems like the Warriors are trying to two timelines this thing again

For whatever it’s worth, this very much sorta feels like when the Knicks just randomly brought in Randle off of an okay year in New Orleans and were able to turn him into an all-star level player that eventually helped them land a “superstar” in KAT.

Kuminga is still two years younger than Keegan and even younger than Nique Clifford, who we drafted this year.

He’s got legit forward size (this is mainly just aimed at a certain someone) and is an explosive athlete. The shot still isn’t great and he is not the best defender but those are the sort of things that you bet on your player dev team getting to fix. These are the kinds of bets that any team should make when they’re in a rebuild/no-man’s-land situation.

I think it depends on what that pick package is. If it’s just the other protections on the Spurs pick, I’m fine with letting them have it haha

Still reeks of desperation a little. You usually want to actually, you know, have space to be able to make it so the trade isn't so stacked against you. The Kings will likely be paying a star trade toll on someone who hasn't necessarily proved they are one.
