Former Major League Baseball (MLB) Commissioner (from 1969 to 1984) Bowie Kuhn passed away yesterday (March 15, 2007). He was 80.
I can't say that I agreed with everything Kuhn did as a MLB Commissioner. But in fairness to him, he came in at a very difficult time. The business side of MLB went through a lot of upheaval and turbulent changes: loss of popularity to the NFL, free-agency, league expansion, player strikes, owner lockouts, all of which were things that no other previous MLB Commissioner encountered before.
