Does anybody else see this day come and go like last year?
with ron ron and bibby still here.....

If no good deals are offered, then I'm perfectly fine with the Kings holding out.
This may be frustrating but he doesn't trade in a panic and thank goodness for that.
He doesn't owe us fans an update of his thought processes.
This is true, for the most part. My guess is that he did panic once (Webber) and we all know how that worked out. But there is something to be said for being too conservative. You can fail to make a move for too long, then all the sudden your chips have lost all their value.
But he does owe us something to root for on the court. I like to cheer for a team that a) is competitive now or b) has the exciting potential to be competitive in the future. Right now, I fear, we have neither.
So the continuing maturation of Hawes, Williams, Martin, Cisco, Douby, Beno, and Dahntay doesn't count as improving. Yes, some aren't getting played but that isn't unusual for youngsters. They will get their day. Young kids aren't instant stars and people who want us to get draft picks, draft picks, draft picks seem to forget this.
I agree about the Webber trade.
Some of our chips are contributing to the only thrills that this year's team can muster. If our best athletes are traded, ARCO will be empty. (yeah, yeah, an exaggeration)
Yeah, that's a nice way to look at it, but we've been in need of a big move here for a while now. We've heard the "things are in the works" speech a ton over the past two years, every trade deadline and every offseason, and nothing happens.Once again people are assuming that nothing being reported means nothing is being attempted. And for the record? Petrie is in town.

Superman, I don't disagree. I was addressing the idea that nothing is happening. Just because a fan needs a shot of excitement to feel good doesn't mean there is no progress. One can't see people gaining maturity and it isn't as exciting as a trade which is all we can do now.
I'd like to see Bibby traded before the deadline but not for a bunch of draft choices. He could get us a very nice power forward and I would hope some low cost pg to make up for our deficit of a pg by trading him.
I believe we have to do so as a part of the trade. Could be wrong. We might have to do so before the trade.I have a question: if we trade Bibby for three guys do we have to cut two guys from our team before we can make the trade?
I believe we have to do so as a part of the trade. Could be wrong. We might have to do so before the trade.
That creates a problem but not a huge problem. Nobody near the end of the bench (you mentioned two) aren't expendable. (Was that a double negative?) I doubt if a Bibby trade would be one for one or even that we gave up more players than we got because of Bibby's contract.
These fantasy dreams that involve Bibby and KT are more of a problem because we are talking of more than $20 mil from our side and to get more than $20 mil back can be very complicated in what it does to the end of our bench. $20 mil back means a lot of players from the other team and therefore a lot of players cut (somehow) from our team in preparation.
I guess that's why I don't get involved in these trade scenarios. There's always that extra little kicker involved that is not taken into account: the players we or the other team needs to cut and how it can be done. It usually involves a little more money lost for one team or the other.
Think about the Webber trade. We dropped Bradley, and Barnes on them as part of evening the player swap out. What would happen is that we would probably drop a guy like Justin Williams, and Douby on them as well. We might get a bit extra for Douby, but doubt it.
