Fantasy: WNBA Pick One Challenge

#1
Well folks, its time to start another season and its been a while since we've had a KingsFans WNBA fantasy league (for Nancgo to beat us in...;) ) I'm opening up a league for us to play the new fantasy game on wnba.com

http://www.wnba.com/fantasy/wnbapickone2007/game.jsp

We need to get in and play for a couple of reasons...first of all, smack talk is fun and a healthy outlet...secondly, we need to play to show the W and ESPN that we like their games (but really want them to bring the damn WVGM game we liked so much better BACK!!!).

Check out the game and let's get ta pickin!

Rules for the fantasy game....

Basic rules of the game:

Pick one player for each day of the regular season that a game is played.
Accumulate points based on that player's Points, Rebounds and Assists (Fantasy Points = P + R + A).
Earn double points when you select a T-Mobile Rookie [Rookie Fantasy Points = (P + R + A) X2].
You cannot pick the same player twice.
Instructions on how to make selections during a given week:
Within the "Pick Your Players" table, click the player drop-down for the day you want to make a selection.
Click on a match-up to view the players available for each game. You can also click on the link for the Top 25 playing on that day above the first match-up. This is particularly useful on days when there are more than three games being played.
A list of players will come up on the right, in order of highest average fantasy score. Information included in this area will be a "Pick" button, player and team name, PRA Average, and % Picked. To select a player, click on the "Pick" button. To view the player's profile, click on the player link. % Picked tells what percentage of all game participants chose this player on the given day.
Once you have selected "Pick" you will need to save the selection by clicking "Enter Picks" at the bottom of the page. You will know that the pick has been saved when the player's image appears in the Results column.
To change a selection, either click on "Change Selection" next to player's name or click on the "Change Lineup" button at the top or bottom of the pick table. Once you have changed your selection, you will need to click "Enter Picks" to save the results. Instructions on how to use the Clickable

Week 1 Results

Well, the first week of the official KingsFans.com Monarchs Forum league is in the books and our interpid fan from Houston(buoyed by a strong showing by a Comets rookie...coincidence? I think not ;)) held off a late charge by Luv13Fan to hold on to the top spot for the week..The rest of us? well, we're all clumped together waiting to make our charge at the two of them...which is due to happen ANY DAY now... ;) We are in the middle of week 2 and already there has been some movement...stay tuned...

Week 3 Results

Well in topsy-turvy week 3 the mythical chalais goes to supadupapimp (who oddly, is not a member of this forum...yet. I'm sure that's an oversight...or something...which will be rectified soon...right? sure it will...great...thanks...;)) Congratulations Supa!

He managed to hold me off thanks to a rather um...how should I say, less than what I wanted/needed performance from Chasity Melvin....thanks again Chas... The game was televised so I could watch her perform less than I wanted/needed.

Welcome to the league Nancgo...:) We should have all learned from previous competitions that even tho Nancgo has spotted us all (or um...me) two weeks, she should be on top of the leaderboard by week 8, that's just the way it goes...like the four seasons, the rotations of the planets...etc... ;)

Uh, yeah right MBF.....

I've been in a weird mindset lately and looked back at my picks thought: Huh??
Oh well, wait, yeah yeah it's all part of my strategy....that's the ticket. :p

I'll join you in your pity party mdme...and for those keeping track...

I [DON'T] HEART ANNA DEFORGE now either...

Thanks for doing absolutely nothing in the 2nd half of tonight's game Anna, way to staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand around and let Catchings do everything.... WTG!!!

I am taking the poor week thing to new depths.. I will now readjust and instead of making headway, I will see if I can score the lowest point total for a full week ever...

When life gives you lemons, ya gotta make lemonade.... ooops...I meant...:)

i started the week with what i thought would be a for sure blow up line up. and blow up is exactly what they did. i have never seen such star players play so average in all my life. gsheez! next week i had picked some average players so maybe next week i might be suprised, but i still have yet to figure this game out, but i must admit, since MBF gave me a little stratgy i have had more fun with it, but i have also been losing....hmmmmmm maybe i should reconsider taking her advice in the future. :p

Um..to my distinguished friend in Houston...you are very welcome for the strategy I gave you since you are freaking ahead of me. I will expect my commission check in the mail for any and all winnings you accumulate as a result of said advice. My fee is 150% plus a margarita surcharge.

[temporary rant]
And I soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

am apparently in the golf score mode now. I mean geezus Brooke Wycoff. I ALREADY don't heart you because of some crap you pulled at the end of regulation in game 2 in the Finals....Yeah Brooke, you *know* what I'm talking about....I mean SERIOUSLY....where the HELL were the 3's today Brooke? Huh? Where the HELL were they? And you know what, I know I ALREADY don't heart Stacey Dales....so why the HELL all of a sudden was she sooo uninjured she could start today and not only that...start and play all of Brooke's damn minutes....oh wait...did Brooke play anything that even QUALIFIED as a plural of the word "minute", hell, did she even play a MINUTE?!? I think I saw 44 seconds she had her butt off the bench today. If she got 2 rebounds in 44 seconds then  . If it took her more than 44 seconds to tally this pathetic score, she better have gotten cracked in the face by Izzie Castro Marques too like Ticha did - I guess on Izzie's way back to play later in Seattle, or one might say I might get mad or something...Sorta along the lines of what this might read like, but only with more expletives and suggestively mad smileys.

I thought Ticha's score was going to be impossible to beat...that is until I realized that I was meant to experience the Worst Fantasy Week Ever by someone who actually didn't forget to select players for the entire week, didn't randomly/accidentally pick IL players or folk who ain't been in the league in years. GAH!!!!!!
[/temporary rant]

Eh...lemonade is GOOD stuff boy.........;)

Week 4 Results

Week 4, where to start….. I think we can thank Tamika Catchings for the final shake down of the standings, she helped folks move up or hang on in some way or another both for the week and for the overall rankings.. Secondly but not leastly…let’s award the mythical chalais to back to back winner supa (who again oddly is STILL not a member of this forum which I’m still sure continues to be an oversight on his part….).

I’m giving myself a something or nother for the most ridiculously mostly unintentional lowest score EVER by someone seriously playing this game. This took work folks and I want to be recognized for it damnit. Taking Nancgo’s suggestion…I am awarding myself and all others who follow who want it…the “It Ain’t Easy Being Green” green jacket ala the Masters. This, for my Tiger Woods-like effort on the back nine at Augusta and racking up a gonna-be-hard-to-beat record low score. I like to thank NOBODY this week for my score. Normally I would have thanked Lindsay Whalen for her effort but she apparently did not realize that she was supposed to grossly underperform or get cracked in the face by Izzi Castro Marques and miss the entire 4th quarter of her game and further cement my untouchable record in the annals of KingsFan league lore. (And um…to all those I saw taking aim at my record setting low points for the day record 2 whole points (breaking my previous low of 5 – set coincidentally in the same pathetic week) step off, I’m gonna to be hard to beat there, so stop shooting for me…:p )

I’m dubbing week 3, “Rear View Mirror Week” …..people last week were much closer than they appeared because lookie here…as week 4 concluded the lead group is TIGHT right now. Less than 9 points separate the top three, less than 15 points separate the folks in spots 4 through 6. Luv13 held off a hard charging mdme and both continue to be chased by an equally hard charging Supa. The next goup is a Lindsay Harding day away from jumping into the fray as well. I gotta feeling as things heat up, a lotta players are going to be hearted or not hearted this week….

Week 5 Results

Oh MY Goodness! Week 4 could have dueling themes for me to use as dubbing...I will pocket one of them for future use in case I have recapper's block and can't think of one (provided I don't forget it between now and the time I next need it ;) ) I hereby dub this week "New Kid In Town" WEEK (all of you with MP3 players or cds or streaming music available...please cue this Eagle song from your playlist as you read this)..[press "PLAY" now to sync the musical accompanyment with the recap...;) ]

First...we have not one but count'em TWO chalaises to give away...congratulations to MamaBristow and Mitzukosan for ending the near dynastic reign that Supa had on the weekly top spot. These two tied as you will note below having only Asjha Jones in common but on different days. (I still heart you Asjha btw:) ). They left the field in their wake this week, everybody else sorta clumped together otherwise...even me technically...wow...nice to see triple digits again...

Our "It Ain't Easy Being Green" green jacket was passed along in ceremonies held previously...Mr4Play shared my pain from last week, but this afternoon Armintie Priced himself away from the full on assault of my course record score. Eh, better luck next time?

We may need a new award...and we may need to go back in history to check the record on this....but the Calaveras award for the biggest leapfrogging in the standings? MamaBristow who made a jump from 4th to the top spot overall. After a rather exciting end of the week battle between Luv13Fan and MamaBristow, Mama held on to finish the week a point ahead. The chase group is still less than a Lindsay Harding day behind. Things are heating up as we enter week 6.

Week 6 Results

This week's musical score is the theme from the Jeffersons..."we're movin' on up..." It's chalais time...and it's going to well, me! After weeks of slogging through the depths of the cellar, I managed to squeak out a win (despite Michelle Snow's underachieving sabatoge). We have no green jacket to award this week, nobody fell below triple digits...work on your greens hit and putting folks, the jacket is there for the taking....;)

The extended dance floor remix of the "movin on up" theme continued to the overall standings as well as we have a new leader this week. Parlaying back to back strong weeks has catapulted mitzuksan into the top spot (polishing Calavaras Award).
