Dunleavy Fired from Clippers

I wonder where he ends up? Maybe Golden State will interview him in off-season as Nellie is scheduled to retire. Dunleavy is mid-50's so still relatively young compared to current coach of the W's. He's coached Lakers before and took them to NBA finals in early 90's, so maybe if the Zen Master retires after this season he'll get another shot with them.

I think it's more likely that Byron Scott is going to be the next coach of the Lakers. There were rumours of that even back when he was successfully coaching the Hornets. I have no idea where Dunleavy will go, can't imagine there are too many teams that would want him.

Seriously, how many chances do mediocre to bad coaches get? Seems like this guy has been around forever and never really done anything. Any team that hires him at this point is simply looking for a recongnizable name for the press release.

Here's the thing about these guys, they can come in and do an adequate job with a bad team and ride out a rebuild. The important thing is that they know there will always be another job out there for them and so they are willing to guide the team in the direction management wants. Whereas you hire a young, hungry guy that wants to be a title contender every year and he'll sacrifice development for wins. Think Westphall vs. Theus.
