Duncan out with ankle injury

How the hell does a ref 2 feet away from a play and clearly watching the ball make an incorrect possession call in the last 30 secs of a 3-pt game? Damned incompetence.

It was a horrible call. I feel bad for you (even though I am still happy for the outcome. It is the side effect of being a fan ;) ). If it was against Seattle, I know I'd be so pissed even though I'd never know if it'd change the outcome.

Lucky for me LA losses are moot at this point or else I'd be po'd. And I blame the ref, not Seattle. I just question how a ref can be looking right at the ball (from 3 feet away) and see the Sonic make the obvious motion tied to the trajectory of the ball, and then award it to the Sonics. Topping it off, he wasn't even about to hear any complaints about it. I couldn't tell whether or not he realized that it was a mistake. He just quickly walked away with a sourpuss look. Some of these refs are pieces of work.

Duncan put on injured list with ankle sprain
Associated Press

SAN ANTONIO -- Tim Duncan will be sidelined at least two weeks because of a sprained right ankle and might miss the rest of the regular season.

The San Antonio Spurs placed the two-time MVP on the injured list Monday following an MRI exam. He flew home to San Antonio on Sunday to begin treatment while the rest of the team went to New York for Monday night's game against the Knicks.

Duncan went down with an ankle sprain early Sunday against the Pistons.
The Spurs activated forward-center Sean Marks from the injured list to take Duncan's roster slot. Robert Horry started in Duncan's place against the Knicks.

Duncan -- the Spurs' leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker -- crumpled to the floor in the opening minutes of a 110-101 loss to Detroit on Sunday after scoring inside and coming down on Rasheed Wallace's foot. After the landing, Duncan's ankle turned in a gruesome fashion.

The 7-footer missed two games earlier this month with a sprained right ankle.

"It's the same ankle he hurt previously, and he really did a number on this one," coach Gregg Popovich said. "It's not broken, but he can't walk on it or anything right now. Two week minimum, I'm sure."

San Antonio (50-16), the Western Conference leader, has 16 more games over the next 30 days before the playoffs start. The Spurs clinched a playoff spot last week and are contending with Miami and Phoenix for home-court advantage throughout the postseason.

"If he's ready to play, we'll play him. If he isn't, we won't," Popovich said. "He won't allow me to let him sit there if he's healthy and ready to go. If he doesn't play any more regular season games, it'll because his ankle's not ready and he's not able."

Duncan entered Sunday's game averaging 21.2 points, 11.5 rebounds and nearly three blocks in 62 games.

The Spurs went 1-3 without him earlier this season.

Marks, a 7-foot New Zealander, has averaged three points and one rebound in seven games this season.

They are a pretty dang deep team, so I wouldn't worry about them slipping too much. Guess its a good thing they got Nazr.

what gets me is that this is like the 2nd or 3rd time he's sprained that ankle THIS YEAR

i thought it was the 2nd time..but when i was watching PTI today Mike and Tony kept saying it was the 3rd time...::shrugs::

i actually saw the clip of it today...and when i saw him twist is ankle i immediately grabbed my ankle (as if i actually felt his pain) it looked pretty painful...he was obviously hurting...

good luck to Tony and Manu....they're gonna need the luck
