Duarte surpasses Red Velvet on the depth chart??

I wouldn't do that trade unless Orlando sends a 1st round pick.

Huerter is still one of the elite shooters in the league and on a reasonable contract. No reason to be throwing him out the door unless we get something of proven value in return. Issac hasn't proven anything and is super injury prone, a first round pick coming back would be required in a trade like this.
This all depends on if he falls out of the rotation. Said it with Holmes, saying it with Huerter, don't sit on that contract. Get it the F off your books. Even if the return is less than expected.

Holmes is a non-shooting center, which is not desirable in today's NBA, especially at $12 million per year. Huerter is an elite 3 point shooting shooting guard, which is one of the most sought after skills in today's NBA. Totally different situation to Holmes contract.

Huerter hit one three last night, then the next time he ran a DHO 3 defenders just amoeba'd there way towards him. I don't remember the result of the play, but that is a huge huge reason why he just needs to be close to average on D. He can't be getting lost beaten on multiple back doors in a row like he did. I fear he has a fairly short leash and it looks like he's place a bit scared. I hope he can shake that off.
This is exactly what happened to Huerl-ter against the Warriors.

I wanna see Colby Jones.

Nope. There were plenty of people thinking it was going to be one of the best 2 C spot combos in the league after the Domas trade. Just watch. You don't want players making 14 million + on your bench if they can't produce and are mostly production players. JT, Holmes, people don't deny it again. Get it OFF YOUR BOOKS. In the last decade or so this is literally fool me thrice if you ignore history. If Huerter goes to the bench at some point and flourishes it's not bad, but this is still such a guard heavy team with wing needs that it's a gamble long term since the margin for error is so small with a role like that.

Yeah. Holmes came here as an energy big and exceeded expectations playing next to Hali in Luke's simple offence. He lost his value when Hali left and an all NBA centre joined the team. The coach and play style also changed and he had some injury + personal issues.

Huerter came here as a rotation player on playoff team and was a starter on our 48 win team last year. His form has dipped, but Chris Duarte to Huerter is not the same as Sabonis to Holmes.

Again with the revionist history. He was here a year before Hali and was the same. It was his legal issues and eye injury that changed him.

offensively he had a similar connection with Bogdan before Tyrese, but never found that connection with anybody else on last seasons team.

since he hasn’t caught on early in Dallas with Luka and Kyrie I’m more inclined to believe that it wasn’t the fit and that Holmes is kinda broken like you suggest. I thought he would sorta regain his form there.

Again with the revisionist history? Serious? Do you think this is some habit of mine?

I also don't get what component of my post you claim is wrong? I acknowledge: the trade, the coach change, the injury, the personal issues?

Should I respond to your post with 'Again with the reductionist thinking'? Or 'Again with the misrepresentations'!!

I wasn't referring to you specifically. People keep saying when Hali left it ruined Holmes. Holmes issues were all personal and injury related. You don't lose your push shot because Hali is gone. He was good before Hali got here and earned the starting spot.

Holmes got the starting spot by having people who were supposedly good NBA players ahead of him in the rotation fail catastrophically with the Kings.

Dewayne Dedmon and Marvin Bagley were basically useless, so somebody has to take the shots. Thus Holmes, who was an 8 and 4 player before Walton, became a 12 and 8 player with Coach Luke.

With Mike Brown, in the games before the eye injury in Orlando, Holmes was averaging 4 PTS-3 REB, and the team was 2-5. That's not acceptable production for an NBA rotation player.

Richaun took advantage of the opportunity that fell to him, but that opportunity dried up before his eye trauma.

His eye injury was before Brown was the coach. Dec 2021.
