That is how I see it, as well. It is really hard to put a value on McDermott because he played so few minutes outside of blowout time. If you are looking for guys who can fill in for an injured teammate, it does help to have a reliable vet on hand.

Don't one year deals have an auto no-trade clause?

Not by virtue of being a one-year deal. But if a player will have either Bird or Early-Bird rights at the end of the deal then the player has to consent to the trade because those rights go away. McDermott would have Early-Bird at the end of this season.

You would hope that McDermott would waive that (obviously those Early-Bird rights won't mean much) but I guess you never know.

I'm wondering if Jones' strong SL showing has shut the door on resigning Lyles, who has been extremely inconsistent post "Beam Year".
