Don Nelson: " if steph curry isnt rookie of the year, somethins wrong"

To be fair, Curry is a beast and future allstar, and the ROY race is going to be a lot tighter than first thought...

But he aint a card carrying member of the 20/5/5 club like Reke. And Reke had to work a lot harder to get his points as well. If he was playing garbageball on the Dubs he'd probably average something insane like 25/7/6 (as a PF).

Nellie should be admired for giving an ALL-OUT support to Curry's quest for the ROY award. There is nothing wrong and nothing ridiculous about a coach supporting his own player for the award. Curry needs it badly and the whole warrior's organization and warrior's media should be credited for giving full support to their own player no matter what and no matter how. I wish coach Westphal, Petrie, and the Sacramento media do more for Evans.

IMO, what was more ridiculous was how some people in Sacramento ( particularly Kate ) had criticized some "fanboys" for having the desire for Evans to get the necessary stats or triple-doubles to cement his case for the ROY award, which he should have gotten easily ONLY if he was allowed to stay in those games to get that 1 rebound ( or 1 assists in another game? ) To Kate et al, Evan's stats doesn't matter and what was more important is the lost cause of winning games. That was ridiculous considering we were not even playing for a playoff spot. A 20/5/5 and three triple-doubles for Evans could have wiped-out or silenced a possible Curry-ROY.

I just hope Curry won't be able to pull a miracle as a result of the so-called ridiculous support he got and still getting from team-Curry. There is no one to blame but the Kings organization ( including Kate for thinking so naively) if Evans somehow failed to get the ROY award.

Luckily for us, ROY isnt won by politics. Its won by stats. Its an open and shut case this year

The fact of the matter is Steph Curry has made a run at the ROY. I don't think he will win it, but it's not Tyreke by a landslide as it was 30 games ago.
A great and funny italian NBA commentator usually says "Stats in March and April has the same legal value of the pre-orgasmic promise" :D

So... Curry is great, but Tyreke played very well all season long. He has to be the ROY.

Considering his fake wins record he is undoubtedly the most overrated coach in the history of the nba.
Hey wins are wins and he has a lot of them. You may not like him, but he has achieved something that might cemented in history for quite a while, so he definitely deserves credit for his accomplishments (with or without a championship).

There is no point in winning if you cannot even contend to win it all, which Nellie has not done.

Couldn't have said better.

he has a career percentage of 45%, not a single finals appearance in his 34 years of coaching - nothing really impressive here

My point exactly. Wins are pointless if you can't even get to the finals in so long, let alone win a championship.

/shrug...I really don't care about what he said. When it comes to being the man, you got to have balls.

Kings got more BALLS then the Warriors. :D

I think Nelson is just supporting his guy and his guy is worth supporting. On the facts, each of their performances through season end has been outstanding. Surprisingly, in my view, a good case can be made for both of them, and both will have outstanding careers, but Evans had the edge in a big way at the beginning of the season and has maintained his excellent play, so much so that I believe he has clearly held through Curry's fantastic second half. Don't beat up on Nelson.

What people fail to see at times is Curry's performance has been outstanding for the SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON. Tyreke's performance has been HISTORICAL for the ENTIRE SEASON.

Tyreke is >>>>>>>>>>> Curry

Also, I don't get why so many people neglect the system that Curry is in. Curry would not have had these SCORING performances if he was on the Kings. There is an acutal system being implemented on the Kings. There isn't one one the Warriors. The Warriors system consists of:

-Run the ball up the floor as fast as you can

- If you're open shoot

-If you're not pass to the guy who is open and shoot.

-In the case that 1st and 2nd man are not open the rule of thumb is the first person open shoot the ball.

THAT'S IT!!

By the way....Curry can't defend people like Tyreke. Tyreke is already a "good" defender at the NBA level. He has the potential to be a GREAT 2 way player and already gives great ALL AROUND performances. Why do some people not see these key elements?? I don't get it!!

The alligator eats the bigger number :p

This math teacher agrees with your assessment of the fallacy in his logic.

Alright Mr. and Mrs. Pretentious. I fixed it. I typed it out fast. I don't re-read my posts, because this is an informal setting. I have more important things to worry about.

The Warriors have been doing a whole heck of a lot of politicking these past couple of weeks, calling up members of the media trying to win their votes, etc. Whatever the results of this race wind up being, I consider it tampered with already.

Even if Evans wins by the margin the ESPN sampling predicts?

I guess that's the only way I'd consider it unaffected. Not that I think that Evans has to win by a huge margin, but because all the sentiment was strongly favoring Evans, despite Curry's good second half. If all of a sudden this thing winds up close, it's gonna be obvious that something wasn't quite right.

I like Curry, but there's really no question that Reke had the better year, especially considering the fact that he did it all season long. It's an open and shut case, really.
