Domas ripped Memphis for 24 & 15 in 24 minutes before being shut down.

I’m sure JJJ’s injury is similar. Kings had to have him try to play through it so the rehab time would take him through the end of the season. lol.

Domas: Misses 27 straight games rehabbing knee injury. Returns for limited minutes for three games, has to sit a game. Returns for four games with diminishing numbers, has to sit two games. Returns for one more game with good numbers, has to sit. Rehab didn't work, team & Domas decide on surgery.

JJJ: After missing two games in November (illness? Dunno.) plays in 33 of 34 games he was suited up for (excluding only the trade-travel game), averaging 31 minutes a game. Gets traded to a tanker, plays three games (two tightly contested) where he is inexplicably benched for the entire fourth quarter. Then has sudden mystery surgery on a knee that was not apparently bothering him for an issue that presumably should have been seen in his trade physical.

Well, if it weren't for BBR's game log page, I wouldn't have even considered it. To be honest, outside of the game log page for each player, I only had to click through (two clicks each) and verify that JJJ sat the 4th for all 3 Utah games. Everything else was right there on the page.

Going a different direction. He was going to work the rehab till the trade deadline. Traded he keeps going with a new team, not traded has the proceedure.

Perhaps. But I suspect that he was limited in his recovery based on the rest schedule once he came back.

If we go with the premise that he was seeking a trade to a contender, then the last thing he would want would be to take a game off after his first stint of three "spring training" appearances, and then take two games off after four games of 29 MPG (and play no back-to-backs in either) in the run-up to the deadline, not if he didn't have to. That would seem to indicate that his knee wasn't fully healed to teams trying to acquire him. In other words, I think if he wanted to get moved and was really good to go, he would have been going.

Seems to me he was gutting it out but wasn't really good to go. That might also explain why there were rumblings that the Kings couldn't get the value they wanted for him in trade. Perhaps nobody really thought he was playing in the playoffs this year anyways.
 
On the plus side, the Kings front office may have more difficulty in trading Sabonis--our best player--if he is recuperating from surgery. At the very least, it will lower any offers that may come in, making them unpalatable.
