The free throw stat is pretty damning of the players. That says we aren't getting to the basket. Fox has got to become the player that frequently gets to the line. He has the tools. I'd like to see him receive the ball while his defender is on the move. The Kings are soft. Here's the YTD stats:
1. 2nd to last in Free Throw Attempts. Translation, it's a team full of jump shooters--no one takes it to the hole.
2. 5th to last in total rebounds. Part scheme, part a lack of bangers.
3. 21/30 in blocks. Part scheme, part a lack of a defensive presence in the paint.

Swinging the ball for the sake of an open shot as opposed to putting pressure on the basket. We are bailing teams out by only looking for perimeter shots. If i'm Fox and I see this free throw stat, I take it personally.I was curious to see how pace impacted these numbers (it’s 2020, we should be controlling for pace!). Per 100 possessions:
1. 28/30 in free throw attempts
2. 26/30 in rebounds
3. 20/30 in blocks
Even controlling for the slow pace, not a great look on these figures.
We are soft. Mentally soft. That is our identity until it’s not.
Well, they both apparently quit the team so they could focus on stamina and staying healthy in the regular season. It's great how that has turned out LOL.....the funny thing is my son said exactly that when Fox and Bagley both quit the National team instead of fighting to play until they got cut....
For those of us that agree that the team's identity is defense, this is something new. I attribute it to Walton. It is the missing ingredient. It has been the elephant in the room for a decade. It actually is the one thing that gives me hope, besides Mr. Holmes of course.

I hated it than and people thought it was somehow a good thing
They did not quit they were cut. Its 2019/20 so there is a PR spin to it.yeah I was ambivalent but my son who is a professional athlete was adamant. He may well have been correct.
^^^. I’m 99% sure Giles riding the bench is a calculated risk. They want to keep him beyond this year, so they can’t let him show out with a full range of minutes or else he’s as good as gone.
He’s gone my dude
I just want something to get excited about. For me, that needs to be exciting/featured play by Fox and Bagley. They are the only potential all stars on this roster (in my opinion) and so at this point a win here or there, a 30 point game by Belly, etc., doesn’t move the needle. I want to get back to how I felt last year and over the summer. That we have an exciting young core and we are a team of the future. I look at the Memphis core of Ja and JJJ and I keep thinking “but that should be us!!! We are the exciting up and comers”. So second half of the year I want the league to take note of Fox and Bagley so we can fee some excitement again this offseason.

Also Melton and Grayson AllenThis is 1000% me. Vets like Bjelica having big games doesn't excite me when it's a losing season anyway. Memphis also has some other solid youngsters in Dillon Brooks and Brandon Clarke. I love watching them and wish it was us. Need Bags and Fox to revitalize the team.
Why doesn't Bjelica having a big game excite you? He's pretty much in his prime (only 28), and can be a big piece for this team for years to come. Bagley needs a spacing big next to him, especially one that can pass. I agree with you that Bags and Fox need to take this team to the next level, but with how contracts are structured in this era, hitting success during their rookie contracts is a must. Bjelica being his best now absolutely helps the team in a huge way, and it's why the injuries to Fox and Bagley this season are so disappointing. It's basically narrowed the Kings window for reaching and sustaining success (I know that sounds laughable for this franchise right now). The Kings now need their development and cohesion to hit hyperdrive, or hit on a creative trade. This is 1000% me.
