does miami have the best defense in the NBA

? so far holding their opponets to around 88 ppg in the playoffs. wade and james seem like they're able to keep the perimeter and high post areas in check. chris bosh has decided he will make an impact in the post and grabbing rebounds. and with the help of joel anthony the heat are averaging about 6 or 7 blocks a game

Points per game is generally not as good of a statistic as points per possession, because a team that plays a slower offensive style will allow fewer points per game (because they allow fewer possessions per game).

The easiest way to answer this question is to look at this year's DRtg, which is points allowed per 100 possessions. Miami had a DRtg of 103.5, which was good for 5th in the league, behind the Bulls, Celtics, Magic, and Bucks. Obviously they are among the best defensive teams in the league. Whether a small sample size over the course of the playoffs so far would be able to measure if their defense has gotten even better is debatable. Too much noise, and ideally when comparing defensive performances the teams played against should be the same - which in this case they are not.

you're right, thanks for sharing. im not going to say i feel bad for bibby and chalmers, im just going to say that i wish they had it easier. 1st it was jrue holiday and then rondo and now derek rose. without question this is the most difficult job. but bibby has impressed me in the few opening games against boston. keeping rondo in front of him and blocking his shot in game 1

Chicago or the Grizz do. The Heat are strong on wing defense, but they're starting guys like Bibby who cannot stop any NBA PG, and they only have Joel Anthony to work the inside D. Grizz have size inside and Chicago has some size and solid D everywhere else. They also rotate incredibly well.

If the kings loaded up like that, none of you would be complaining.

Wade and 'Bron are two of my favorite players and I want them to succeed. I like Rose and Noah but everyone else on the bulls annoys me. But I hope either the bulls or heat win out. Still don't care about Dallas and OkC is comes off as a little too cocky for my liking.

Lebron has tried guarding Rose before, doesn't work. Nobody can guard Rose one on one. Hopefully he picks up some quick fouls trying to do so, but even if he does I'm not sure if they'll call them.
