Do you believe........

yes. spurs will win this series in six (my prediction before this series started)

a first round sweeps say volumes about how the team played in the first round and how their opponent played in the first round. it says very little about the outcome of the second round. overcoming adversity in round one creates an advantage in later rounds. spurs have won three championships as the 1 or 2 seed and never swept in round one.

No. If we win we play against mavs who will be rested. If we lose the spurs don't have enough athleticism to keep up with Dallas. Dallas is a better team than SA right now in my mind.

Dallas is a different match-up. No way can they dominate in the paint like the Kings have. They're a lot tougher than their previous incarnations but they're still a predominately jump shooting team. The Spurs still have the defensive tools to stop teams at the perimeter.

even before the playoff's started, my favorite team to win it all, despite that sorry excuse of human being also known as mark cuban, was the mavs. i am not convinced that the spurs, with broken duncan and manu, can go to the finals. a team for which parker takes 20 shots a game is not fit to play in the finals, if you ask me.

No. Clippers.

KIDDING!

I don't think we can take much stock in the Dallas sweep of Memphis...they haven't won a game in the playoffs in either try they got. If it's Dallas/SA, I think Dallas goes all the way (neither LA could stop them). If it's Kings/Dallas...we could take them...but we'd probably follow it up with a loss in the WCF in classic Kings fashion.

point #1: its silly at this point to look beyond tonight's game for either the kings or spurs...because the series is still up in the air.

point #2: if we're actually going to indulge in fantasizing about the kings advancing, we might as well indulge properly and positively, and say the kings are goin' all the way to the nba finals, as opposed to taking the negative route and calling it a loss in the WCF.

:D

2nd round will definately be tougher than the WCF.

Thing is, we're a bad match-up for any team besides the Pistons. If we get passed the Spurs, the Mavs still dont have the interior defenders to stop Bonzi and Artest. If we just had a big guy in the middle, we have a team specifically built for the playoffs.

Mavs actually handled us pretty well this year, and they have a lot more options at the 2/3 to match Bonzi/Ron (Howard, Griffith, Dirk etc.). Of course it would be insane to look past the Spurs, but the Mavs actually matchup better -- they were able to play games like putting Howard on Brad, which just negated him, then switching Dirk onto Ron + letting one of their big centers check Kenny.

While having a C in the middle would help us greatly, you do realize the Mavs have Dampier and Diop - two of the best shot blockers and interior defenders in the league - right?

reason i believe the kings could beat dallas is mike bibby. mike has owned the city of dallas and los angeles since 2002. they have no answer for him. and while dallas may have bigger guards, still none of them are as strong as artest. not even close. right now the kings are facing the best defensive team in the league. we'd have a field day with dallas

Point #1 - It's the topic of this thread.

Point #2 - That's my thoughts...unless it's the Clippers...LMAO.

And the Spurs have Duncan. Not a bad shot blocker himself. Neither is Nazr Mohammad. But they're not blocking on Artest and Wells, are they? You think Daniels, Griffen, or Stackhouse has enough post skills to defend Artest and Bonzi down low?

The Kings cause mixmatch problems galore. Like I said: Taylormade for the Playoffs and just one peice away from making a serious run.

the winner of this series will make it to the finals.... the mavs are soft.... everyone says there defense has improved but i dont see much of that......

I'm there. I like to stack all my eggs in a single purple basket. It might suck when it falls to ground and all is lost... but I keep on stackin'. Same basket, fresh eggs. What can I say... I'm a kings fan... it's easter... stack 'em high I say.

Er...really?

The 4-0 sweep while leading the playoffs in scoring defense (held Memphis to 84.3ppg doesn't show you anything?).

id be suprised if it was anyone other than memphis.... i mean memphis has never won a playoff game... they are something like 0-12.....

Yes they are.

Although people make too much of that given that all three years they are matched with 60win championship contenders. San Antonio. Phoenix. Dallas. Oh my.

Still averaged 92+ ppg on the season, but only 84 vs. Mavs. Mavs may not be the best defensive team, but they are now definitely a good one after being horrible all those years. Think they only allowed teams to score 93-94 ppg on the season. Used to be closer to 100+.
