De’Aaron Fox Injury Update

Yeah that doesn't sounds great.

Just shut him down. What's the point of him playing at 70-80%? All it's doing is taking time away from Mitchell/DDV, making us better to win pointless games and risks potential long-term injury with Fox. There's literally no upside.
What if Davion leads us on a winning streak though? Lol

Not ideal, but still good! I want my rookies looking good and playing well. And even if he's 25-7 the rest of the year, I still doubt we win many games. With the Mitchell/DDV/Metu/Damian Jones core. Took Metu shooting 8-11 for 22 points and a last second Damian Jones tip to beat a highly depleted Pacers team.

Unfortunately, aside from the Heat, our opponents on this road trip are worse than the Pacers.

on the other hand, going 4-1 on this roadtrip would firmly put us right back into the play-in race in all likelyhood lol

just to clarify. The Pels have games against Portland (2) and SA (1). Assuming they lose the other six. We have to finish 9-0 to be tied.

lakers have OKC and New Orleans twice. Again assuming the go 3-6, we have to finish 9-0.

any combination of 4 Lakers/Pels wins and/or Kings losses eliminates us.

Most likely we win 4 more and fall to 7. If we go 4-1 and win 5 more like that puts us in a tie with SA and possibly drafting 8/9 again.

Don't worry. We're not playing against a team with Buddy Hield on it. :D

Would be nice if he told us why. That was the biggest question mark of the season.

I think he dogged it because he hated playing with Ty. Almost certainly not intentionally, but he wasn’t De’Aaron Fox until the day Ty got traded.

He was trying to play off ball more so Hali could run the offence. I think the adjustment was more difficult than he thought it would be After Hali was traded, it put him back in his comfort zone.
Not only was he playing off-ball, he was playing in his least efficient quadrant of the court off the ball so Tyrese could have better routes to the hoop from the top of the key. We also decided to stop running pick and rolls of any kind despite having Richaun Holmes and two guards who absolutely thrived going downhill.

Once we traded for Sabonis, Gentry essentially went back to the playbook from last season and the Kings immediately looked like a functional offense again.

De'Aaron may not even have a clear idea of the "why" himself. It might be as simple as the fact that sometimes even good players have a bad stretch of games, or flaccid starts to a season, or downturns on the other side of the all-star break, or botched years in their entirety. Sometimes it's due to roster fit. Sometimes it's injuries. Sometimes it's personal circumstances. Sometimes it's inexplicable mental blockages. That Fox is more self-aware than a player like, say, Russell Westbrook is important, as is his open acknowledgment that he was playing well below his ability. Once hired, the new coaching staff will need to hold their max player accountable to his "best," whatever that ceiling ultimately looks like for De'Aaron Fox.

Simple, Fox needs the ball in his hands to be at his best. Hali needs the balls in his hands to be at his best. There is only one ball.

Tyrese traded, boom- Fox instantly gets back to his old form and Hali becomes a better bball player in Indiana (until another ball dominate guard, Malcolm Brogdon, comes back from injury).

Fox needs to learn how to excel with other alpha players to win in this league. Hopefully, the new coach and Fox figure it out next season.
