Yes, I am excited that the NASCAR season is beginning. Did you watch the Bud Shootout last weekend? I will be watching the Daytona 500. My brother lives in Jacksonville, FL. and has been several times.

I am not a DEI fan, although I have always liked Michael. Junior gets way more adulation than what he has earned on the track...IMHO. And, his father, as great as he was on the track, was a crazy daredevil and womanizer. Don't get me wrong, he is one of the NASCAR greats, but since he was killed, he has become a god of the sport. It is a little much for me.

Okay, then again, you will hate my favorites.
I am a fan of the Hendricks Motor Sports team. I also like a couple of last year's rookies. I like the Wallaces, especially Rusty. I could go on, but that is enough for one post.

I must say,I have the upmost respect for every single one of them.My fav.driver was and always will be EARNHARDT SR. never new of any off track shananagans, but as a driver myself,I idolized him for his driving style and no fear approach to the sport,he was respected by all,and hated by most.I'll never forget the day he died,Iwas in total disbelief,I cried for 2 weeks,i still get emotional(like now) when i think about it. No,i did'nt get a chance to watch the shootout, but did see a race( last25laps) yesterday, don't know which one,but MICHAEL won it.My other fav. is JOHNNY BENSON.

Didn't Johnny Benson drive in the truck race tonight? I only saw the very beginning of the race...up until the 1st caution. Yeah, Michael won the 2nd of the 150's yesterday....at least I think it was the 2nd one.

I know what you mean about Earnhardt Sr. My brother was at that race. I don't think he is "over it" yet.

just finished watching IROC race M.MARTIN won it. very good race..
Thanks for the info. I will pass it on to my mom. The race was over when we got back from dinner and she was upset that she didn't find out who won it. We had the TV on Speed Channel so she could find out, but it was not mentioned.

I wouldn't mind Martin winning the 500. I support the west coast/California guys but how can you not root for Martin? I guess it wouldnt be horrible if Rusty Walrus won either.

My 2 favorite drivers...Jeff and Jimmie placed 1st and 5th. Congrats to them and the Hendricks team. Great job!!

Also, props to Junior, Busch and Stewart for a great race those last few laps. It was an exciting finish....to say the least.

I was very sad that Michael blew his engine with 30 (or so) laps to go. Dang! He was having a great race day.

NASCAR race or his first win when he was about 5 or 6 years old?

I never said NASCAR win. His first win in NASCAR was the 600 but I was looking for Rio Linda. There used to be a Go-Cart track there and JG first win was there at the age of 3.

Ha! Ha! That is why I asked, but I thought he was about 4 1/2 at the time.

1/4 midgets.

Sacramento is also home of the Midget. My mom used to watch them at Hughes stadium with my grandpa.
