Davis-Wrightsil Steps Down As Silvers Stars

Thanks for sharing that article.

It's telling that most that article (which was actually a Silver Stars press release), emphasized Clarissa's efforts on the business side and the community outreach side of her team. And if you are a GM of a team, that's important. However, the team itself has had one of the worst performing records in the last several years, and they have struggled in San Antonio ever since they moved from Salt Lake City after the 2002 season, when they were the Utah Starzz. Not suprisingly, that press release wasn't going to say that!

Maybe it's the underdog side of me, but I had really hoped the Silver Stars would greatly improve in 2005, and they didn't. In fact, they were one of the worst teams (besides the Charlotte Sting) in the WNBA last season.

So, perhaps it's a good thing for her to leave the team, and give the GM job to someone else. They actually have a pretty decent coach in Dan Hughes.

I think the business side is probably the most important part of her job particularly being that they were a relatively new team and I believe she had been a bigger part of the San Antonio group's efforts to land a team.

Their problem the last couple of years has been injuries, it also doesn't help that their coach and point guard are philosophically at odds with one another.

Ooooohhhh! That would be awesome. I know she retired as a player...I was hoping she would come back to Sacramento. The Maloofs indicated she would take part in the breast cancer awareness program...But to be a coach..
