But if everything goes as planned, those will be late lottery picks. Plus they should still have a pick every other year. Plus ring chasing vets will prob sign for the vets minimum to play with LeBron AD and another all star. Anyways. Here's to hoping this goes all nash/Dwightmare on the Lakers so they suck and lose good draft picks.
There are far better options for ring chasing than the Lakers. The Bucks, Sixers, Raptors if they keep Kawhi, heck even the Warriors all probably stand a better chance at winning a ship than the Lakers, even if they get Kyrie or Kemba to play next to Lebron and AD (who may not be a good enough defender to cover for Lebron’s cherry picking, Kuzma’s general disinterest in defense, Kyrie’s Kyrie-ness at the same time)

You’re still operating under the assumption that these are the Jerry Buss-run Kupchak/Phil Jackson Lakers and not the clown car of incompetence Lakers of now.

The Lakers have the smallest analytics department in the league. They already hired the replacement for their current head coach. Their GM is an unrepentant serial liar whose best move as GM, by the way, was signing Lebron, who was going to go to LA regardless of whether the Lakers courted him or not. Their fanbase is stuck in the past and constantly comparing Lebron to Kobe for some reason. Last season the Lakers had all the money in the world and more respect than they do now and somehow walked away with Rondo, Javale (who they probably bring back), and Lance.

These are not your (or Jeannie Buss’s) daddy’s Lakers.

I'm hoping u are 100% right and the Lakers become a train wreck but they are already vegas' favorite to win it all and playing for the Lakers in a big market like LA and with LeBron and AD will be tempting to some. It just reeks of the rich getting richer type scenario but again I hope you are right and we see another decade of Lakers sucking.

Vegas has more Lakers fans than LA does so the casinos are always gonna fix the odds so Lakers fans aren’t gonna walk away with millions of dollars.

Predictably, Lonzo Ball’s dad is going scorched earth on the LeBron’s blaming them, their training staff and former head coach Luke Walton for not seeing what he sees in his son.

He then doubles down by claiming he advised the organization that signing all 3 of his sons would have saved them from despair. LOL.

LaMelo might be legit once he gets to the league, but dude is in serious denial over LiAngelo who went undrafted and hasn’t been good enough to crack a roster and Lonzo, who’s been decent at best. Nowhere near the transcendent star his delusional father still talks himself into believing.

Remember last year was somewhat similar, and then James got injured.........doesn't take much....

Why look elsewhere for an example of trading your future for win now vets. That's how they got in this mess in the first place.
I’m fine with that when you have a win now superstar like Lebron. It’s the young pieces that they decided to keep that have been the problem. Like Kuzma is a nice player but he also plays the same position as Lebron and they traded D-Russ, who would have been perfect playing off of Lebron for the rights to draft him. Were I the Lakers, I would have traded Kuzma in exchange for being able to keep some of the draft picks I’m giving up in later years when AD’s new contract comes in and I’m gonna be starving for a way to acquire cheap role players.

Wow. Pelinka really doesn’t care about the future.

I think the Lakers lose this trade big time.

Yeah they may be good over the next couple of years but the Lakers could easily be a bottom dweller for awhile now with all of the future picks being sent to NOP.

The Pelicans have the ability to be the Celtics of the west with that treasure chest of assets.

By the time the picks convey, Lebron’s gonna be retired and the Lakers at best will be struggling for a slot at the bottom of the playoff bracket.

Considering the relative purgatory the Celtics have fallen into, I think the Pels would rather be the Sixers of the west.

2022 is presumably gonna be the double draft year where high schoolers and one-and-diners enter the same draft under a new CBA. The Pels are probably gonna take the Lakers pick for that year.

I’m not even that high on Lonzo or Ingram (his season ending injury scares me) and I still think the Pels absolutely crushed this trade in a way unseen since the Nets-Celts trade.

They honestly could be good for the next three or four years and still lose the trade because of those picks being taken up until the mid-2020s.
They literally mortgaged their future for a chance to win now in the next 2 years. The problem they are going to run into are the Utahs, Denvers, Portlands and even Kings young teams that will run their high priced asses up and down the court.

I think the Lakers would be better off taking that space and spending it on some high quality role players and gaining some depth. If anything, the last few seasons are showing us that you need depth. They should have enough production with Bron, AD, and Kuzma. They should swing for some tough hard nosed players like Pat Beverley, Deandre Jordan, Danny Green, Trevor Ariza, and Taj Gibson.

LaBron turns 35 this December. This will clearly put them in conversation as contenders for next season, but....if the lakers front office doesn’t get their act together and reduce the bumbling turmoil, this is going to be disastrous for them for the next decade. Yes, they will always feel like they can attract the top tier free agent to make up for lack of draft picks, but if they can’t they literally have no assets beyond a late 30s LaBron (he will eventually be human....likely increased injuries) and AD. And that’s assuming both sign with the team beyond their current contracts. Of course they had to take their swing at this, an AD is great (if healthy), but they mortgaged a lot. As a laker hater, I’m hoping it’s not quite enough for this year and then it all starts to go downhill from there.

They went all in.

Now let's hope those hot ashes still smoking catches the whole arena on fire instead of just the dumpster. Sure the Lakers have a better chance of grabbing a championship or two.

But they once said the Titanic couldn't sink.

See the Nets & Ainge for previous reference.

I’m amazed by the sheer amount of dudes who got burned by the Kobe/Dwight Howard superteam idea getting into the Lebron/AD superteam idea.
Davis amount of game played over career

Now he is just 26 and if you get a chance to sign him via FA you do it. But there is some concern for mortgaging the farm for him there. And the whole farm is gone besides one weed in Kuz

Unprotected pick swaps, a unprotected pick....

High stakes gambling.
