Davion and K’Von

And a crazy road from the Bogi offer sheet we balked on ending with Atlanta being unable to trade him due to a trade kicker and Huerter falling in ours laps. Hue hue hue…

And many KINGS fans complained quite loudly over McNair allowing Bogi to leave.

In hindsight it’s looking more and more like the correct decision. Especially since it apparently helped the KINGS to acquire Huerter.

The minute Halliburton signed a max deal a huge chunk of the fanbase would turn on him.

Nobody outside Sacramento cared about Hali until we traded him. It's just wild how much the media seems to love to stir the pot now to inflame the two fanbases on what could conceivably be a win-win trade if there wasn't this strange desire by some in the media to punch down on us as fans. WTF did we ever do?

Didn’t let the league move the franchise to Seattle.

This is unfortunately true. A glance at any Kings related thread on realgm will inevitably include a reference that has to do with the Vlade regime and how the team should have moved to Seattle as if that regime is still in charge.

It's a poor narrative that really shows the rest of the league is 3 years behind on the Kings currently yet the narrative won't change until the culture has changed.

The Kings are Mr Irrelevant to the NBA. And its of their own doing (2002). They learned their lesson by not screwing future small markets (Mil/SA/Tor/GS to an extent) in favor of large markets. Donald Stern wouldn't have stuck his neck out if he didn't feel somewhat responsible for the situation in Sac (an ownership that felt they couldn't win or be profitable unless they were in a different = larger market).

Would have loved to be a court reporter in the Stern to Silver transfer meetings.

For those still upset about trading Halliburton, please keep in mind that I doubt Monte makes the Huerter trade for another shooting guard if Halliburton was still on the roster.

Halliburton is obviously a great player, but Huerter is a great player AND a great fit next to Fox.

Eh, it’s impossible to know which path would have turned out best. We only get to know how the chosen path turns out. Hopefully for all KINGS fans it turns out well.

That said, I’m not gonna lie in wondering how this team might look with Haliburton playing alongside another super high IQ, super skilled player in Keegan Murray, to go along with De’Aaron Fox. That might have been a better path.

But Keegan wasn’t in the equation when the trade was made and we can’t go back in time now.

It’s impossible to know how the draft would had shook out had the Halliburton trade never occurred. We may have wound up at #6, #7 or #8 or worse and with a totally different rookie.

There’s no point to wonder about “what if” at this point. I think the Kings are on a good path right now.

.

Agreed, there‘s no way to know. I thought I prefaced that. Lots of moving parts and variables.

I’m just saying, in theory, a core consisting of Haliburton and Murray is intriguing. IMO can’t have enough high IQ, highly skilled and diverse players that can shoot the ball.
