Anyone watching this? Emmitt Smith is a smooth teddy bear who can move really well. Dare I say that he turn out to be better than Jerry Rice?!!! I will wait and see on that one.
Anyway, fun to watch and there are some really good dancers.
I think Emmitt is definitely starting out better than Jerry. Rice was pretty stiff at first and seemed a bit tense. I was impressed by how hard he worked, driven by that intense competitiveness. He really improved his danicng a lot.
Emmitt, altho large, has just seemed more relaxed from the outset, has good, comfortable rythm and is light on his feet.
Kennadog, I liked Jerry's hip action and his ability to work the crowd.
Emmitt is so smooth and easy on the floor. I enjoyed his cha cha much more than the was it a quick step this time? But he is fun to watch. He makes it look easy.
None of the gals impress me that much. I guess out of the girls I would have to pick Willa Ford as the best dancer but her popular vote is going to get her nowhere. Vivica has personality but to me she is just eh.
I totally don't think that Shanna Moakler should of been the one to go. She wasn't the greatest dancer, but she was certainly better than Springer, even he admitted that. The problem with this show is that the viewers get to do the voting, thus it ends up being more of a popularity contest. Look at how long Master P remained on the show last season, and he was absolutely horrible! I feel that the judges should be the ones to determine who goes, but I guess then that the show wouldn't get the extra revenue they need from all the phone calls.
There can be someone that's the best singer, but gets voted off, just because the people don't like him/her or whatever it is about them. Personally, that's not the way it should go. That's really unfair, it should be at least 50/50.
Emmitt has my vote. He is definitely more relaxed than Jerry was and can move on the dance floor as well as the field. Love to see him smile when he's dancing.
Okay, now it's officially a joke. Jerry Springer better than Harry Hamlin?? Surely they jest. Now I don't think that Harry was that great, he deserved to be in the bottom two. But Jerry is still there? Perhaps he is still on the show because it's a so-bad-it's-good thing? Or maybe he just has too many fans of his trash TV show. And it's too bad for Ashley Degrosso too, as I always thought she was the best female dance partner on the show. Hopefully she'll be back again next season.
I haven't looked but I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry Springer is on that website where people intentionally urge you to vote for the worst contestant. I don't remember the name of the website but I know they kept Chicken Little from being voted off American Idol for quite a while...

I was wondering last night if there was such a website for this show as well. But then I swear I overheard the female host say that callers are only allowed to vote nine times. If that's true, then there would be no 'flood' vote effect such as there is on AI.
They're supposed to be allowed to vote only ten times. But if they're using Vonage or some other Internet Voice Protocol and have a modicum of computer knowledge, they can get around that restriction pretty quickly.
Although I can't stand Mario Lopez, he and his partner were on fire last night. They absolutely gave '10' performances. I was disappointed that Sara Evans and her partner didn't do better. They had such a great routine and costumes, but just didn't pull it off. I predict they might go bye-bye tonight.
Mario Lopez has a bad reputation, and that's all I'm saying so as not to throw this thread off topic. If you want to know more, then do your Google search. I was disappointed that Vivica and her partner left, too. Her partner Nick was the best male dancer on the show, IMHO. He's been on the show for at least two seasons now and I hope he continues to be on in the future. Again, I think the wrong couple got voted off for the third consecutive week in a row. Whatever. At this point, it has ceased to be fair and honest, so it is what it is.
Anytime you have the public voting on these things, its a popularity contest. I get disappointed, but long ago stopped expecting "best" to mean anything. Kinda like All-Star voting.
I actually watched last night and tonight. And I am ill...
To have Willa voted off because people like to laugh at Jerry Springer is ludicrous, to say the least. If Springer had an ounce of integrity, he'd withdraw from the show. The other couples are being graded - and pretty harshly at times - while he's just out there, totally inept.
I hear you, VF21. At this point, I have grown disillusioned enough to stop watching this show, and it's always been one of my favorites. It has turned into nothing but another edition of the Jerry Springer show instead of the dance competition that it is supposed to be. He can't dance to save his life, and I am so tired of hearing him milk the dancing-at-my-daughter's upcoming wedding thing for all it's worth. The show is a joke now.
I just spent close to an hour searching the Dancing with the Stars website, trying to find a feedback link. I found mailing addresses but nothing that would enable me to send an email to the show or the producer. So I checked the main ABC website and finally found - fairly well hidden, I might add - a way to contact ABC about the show.
When you go to that page you can select "Dancing With the Stars" and "Complaint" from the drop-down menus.
Here's the text of the message I sent. You're limited to 500 characters which meant I couldn't say EVERYTHING that was on my mind but I hope I got my message across about how disappointed I am.
I am seriously questioning whether I will continue to watch this show. The episodes this week looked more like a skit from SNL.
The show should be about improving skills, talent and dedication, not buffoonery or pity. Shame on you for turning something entertaining into a modern version of a bad Benny Hill episode.
You've created a system that allows people to vote for the worst dancer just for comedic value. There is nothing fair about a competition that rewards a lack of talent.
And guess what? I already received an automated reply:
As you can imagine, we receive thousands of messages a day from our viewers and while we appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback regarding our programming, we are not able to respond to each one directly.
We encourage you to continue to communicate with us!
Thanks, VF21. I just emailed them myself. While I don't know if it will make a difference, one can at least try.
My email:
I have enjoyed watching this show for the past 2 seasons. What I most admired was how dedicated it was to just showcasing the art of ballroom dancing. Unlike most reality shows that instead choose to focus on off-stage antics and bufoonery, DWTS was purely about contestants displaying and being judged on their dancing ability. Sadly, that has not been the case at all this season. Instead, this has now turned into those 'most reality shows'. Please, restore this show back to it's greatness!
I, also sent an email. I was so excited to watch this show, until last night, my second favorite, Willa and Maz got voted off. The voting has just passed all limits. Hopefully the emails will change something, but I doubt they'll even check it.
Evans divorce papers cite adultery, porn
By JOHN GEROME, Associated Press Writer
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Country singer Sara Evans alleges in divorce papers that her husband committed adultery, was verbally and emotionally abusive, drank excessively and frequently watched pornography in their home.
Evans, 35, filed for divorce Thursday from Craig Schelske and announced through a spokesman that she was quitting ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" "to give her family full attention at this difficult time."
Just how is the show going to handle this? Will this week's shows just be about dancing, with no one being voted off? Will they bring back a previous couple as a replacement? Or will the show proceed as usual and just be one week shorter all together? At this point, I don't even know if I want to watch anymore, but I'm still curious.
