Curious question...

Do you think GP visits this forum?

(Don't know where this thread should belong - so move me where appropriate).

If you were a sports personality, whether it be in a managerial position or as a player, would you want to visit an internet forum? Have you read the things Bricklayer says about them here! Even if it is indeed true! ;)

I would. You as a GM, Player, coach etc..... would want to know what the fans think about you or your team because the fans are what you do it for and what pays your inflated salaries. The question that needs to be asked is. If you were GP would you read the forums about your team? My answer is yes.

I would highly doubt it.

The Kings front office is aware of this site, but I assume Geoff himself has better things to do. He's actually the man in charge -- he has no need to chat about what could or should be done. He gets to do it himself.

I am pretty sure he did check in the onettime though for the Grades thread, Pretty Girls Edition. :p

He doesn't need to chat, but I thought maybe he would look at this site and see the thoughts of diehard Kings Fans and their "ideas".

I personally think that it wouldn't surprise me if someone from the Kings regularly reads this site. Its a good way for TPTB to get the feel of what the fans think and its a great way to get some feedback.

I would be shocked, stunned and surprised beyond belief if Geoff Petrie ever bothered to read a fan site.

They're looking at the team from a totally different perspective than the fans. To us it's entertainment and something we care in differing degrees about. To them, it's a business. They're grateful for the support of the fans, of course, but there wouldn't be any reason for the Geoff Petrie's of the world to log onto an Internet message board for job hints.

:)

Having said that, I do know for a fact that some employees of MSE do read the site on occasion. And, if they see something really interesting, I'm pretty sure they would mention it. But they aren't rushing to their computers every morning to be the first to see the newest posts at Kingsfans.com ... or any other message board.

;)

Yet both want to win. Both have ideas that are meant for winning.
No matter if they are involved from a business standpoint their aim is to win and so is ours.
Do I think Petrie reads this site often? No, not often, but I am definitely sure he takes a glance every now and then to observe the views of many many fans.

While you might be right, I still seriously doubt it. I do know of instances where certain items were brought to the attention of players, etc. but I think people need to remember there are totally different perspectives involved. We're fans - speaking with fervor about something we're emotionally vested in. To those "on the other side," so to speak, they're looking at things from a financial and business aspect. Significantly different, IMHO.

only?
financial and business is the same thing, so chose your words as both those words are ONE aspect. Finance is business.
That is why they ARE GM's. They have to take care of more than just making the team better, but they have to look from many angles that includes the business aspect as you stated. Yet, they are still always on cue with the team on making it better basketball wise, which is what they were brought in for.

He actually posts here under the name Piksi:eek:

It would be crazy has hell if we had a player as a reg poster. It would be obvious if they did not post on game nights, but still. Just think we could have a Kenny posting!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Another question if you think that a player is posting, who do you think they are and what is their fourm name?

I'll bet someone from the management-owner team checks in periodically just to assess Sacramento community opinions of various marketing and promotional decisions. Information is power, and the Maloofs probably operate with that premise. I really doubt that fan opinions influence player acquisitions or general team operations.

you caught me.... im kenny thomas... i know, it sucks to be me, but i make millions for frowning.... :(

DingDingDing!

In other words...I agree.

I don't agree. I don't think the Maloofs and Petrie operate in a vacuum. There was a LOT of talk about Artest on the radio before the deal was done, or before the parties even talked. Many people were open to it. I doubt the Maloofs would have seriously entertained the possibility of the trade if there wasn't so much public discussion about it beforehand. And by all accounts, the Maloofs were the primary drivers of the trade.
