Cousins vs Hassan

I'd like to think of myself as one of the bigger Whiteside supporters on this board but I think you have to be realistic about him. He's a prospect who needs to fill out some to be able to compete in the NBA. What seperates him vs. a Cousin's are their interior games. Whiteside struggled against guys his size last year and got backed down a lot. That part of his game really needs work. Whiteside is a late lottery pick in my opinion (if we could somehow swing one I would be all for grabbing him). He needs some time to adjust.

sorry but stats in a weak conference don't mean much to me. it's about how their skill translates in the next level meaning banging with the big boys in the pivot position. hassan definitely has the tools (athleticism, height) to become an elite player. will he fulfill it? who knows.. it seems some ppl are questioning whether its worth spending a top 5 pick on potential (myself included).

i like both players but wouldn't take hassan with a top 5 pick when there are other prospects out there. i'm afraid he will slip to the mid 1st round to possibly second round. he has deandre jordan written all over him. big man will jump out of the gym ability but no real skill to his game.

Personally I think Jordan was ahead of where Whiteside is now. The one thing they have in common is their suppossed lack of work ethic etc. Whiteside is a little better athlete, but Jordan has a much more ready NBA body. Jury is still out on Jordan. He has the ability, he just has to apply it.

Whiteside needs one season in the D-L, then one season under some sort of vet tutelage, and then he might fill out and be ready for 10-15 minutes off the bench. But man, he and Cousins would be a lethal combo in the future if it all works out like it could.

Dwight worked ridiculously hard on his body these few years. Don't think for a second he did not hit the weight room. Check his photos when he was drafted, he was pretty scrawny.

OT, but P90 will not make you big, it will just make Whiteside look thinner since the majority of it is for fat loss and toning.

I think that prescription for Hassan is a bit too conservative. Let him spend a little time in the D-league, sure. This team is so young that you might as well Throw Hassan into the fire. Its the best way to gain experience. Id like to see him playing with the team before the end of next season.

I am estatic we drafted both players from this old thread. I think Hassan still has a higher ceiling than DeMarcus. Sending him to D-League, without even playing 1 NBA game? Im taking Hakeem's side on that debate. Great we drafted both, I hope they become 2 of our starting players in years to come.
