Could the 2005-2006 Kings be the next 1999 Knicks?

Last year thyey faced Denver under similar circumstances -- Nuggets came in scorching, were the "dark horse" pick. And the Spurs dismissed them in 5.
Umm different situtation. Denver just had a change of coaching and a change of gameplay, but same personnel. The Kings had a change of personnel, and now they play with energy. Denver won all those games because of the new style Karl had them playing. kings won all their games because (a) a new style (b) energy and passion. not to say denver didn't have passion, its just that a new coach vs. a top ten player coming on your team in the middle of a season are two different things. besides, Kings play the Spurs style now, and it just happens to be the one style the Spurs can't defend very well.

i don't typically like to do this, but i'm gonna have to call bull**** on this one. it's fun to be excited. the kings are in the playoffs! i'm stoked. but let's not start making stuff up that isn't true. the kings do not play like the spurs, and the kings do not play a style that the spurs cannot defend. let me put it this way, if RA knows every offense run in this league (and i believe he does), pop knows how to defend every one of those offenses. the matchup we're likely going to see in a couple of weeks is exactly what it looks like: a defending champion #1 seed against an improving but flawed #8 seed. kings fans should stop doing the team a disservice by elevating their status beyond what it is. i believe in this kings team. i believe that the kings, of all the possible #8 seeds this season, have the best chance against the spurs in the first round. i even believe the kings can beat the spurs in seven. to win, though, the kings would need to play with the energy, intention, and determination that they showed against denver. even that is only going to be good enough to keep each game close.
