OKC better hope San Antonio gets eliminated and Denver’s comes in with 3 healthy playoff bodies like last year cause they’re not beating either team

So all it takes to get back on track is win the lottery with a generational player (Wemby), then get another top 4 pick the next year (Castle) and then move up to #2 in the lottery the year after (Harper) all the while have another top 20 active player on another team demand his way to your team whilst giving up nothing to acquire him (Fox)

Too easy.

Same dumb team sends you a wing and a first for nothing as well

Had to miss most of the first half of Spurs/Thunder, on account of it being at the same time as when my family sat down for the meal... Quite pleased with the outcome, and happy to see Fox have a good high profile game.

It’s either that, or the graphic is AI slop, and I’m not double-checking that, it’s Christmas!
78 years of christmas games averages to 3.5 games a year.

The quick AI

AI Overview

The NBA Kings franchise (as the Rochester Royals and later Kings) played on Christmas Day frequently in their early decades (
1948-1972, 1975-1978) but only twice in their Sacramento era: 2002 (win vs. Lakers) and 2003 (loss vs. Mavericks), marking their last Christmas game to date.
Key Years & Eras
  • Early Dominance (Rochester Royals): The franchise played on Christmas Day almost every year from 1948 to 1972, starting strong with an 8-1 record in the first nine.
  • Kansas City Era: They continued the tradition in Kansas City from 1975 to 1978, including a game in 1977.
  • Sacramento Era: After moving to Sacramento in 1985, they played only two Christmas games:
    • 2002: Defeated the Los Angeles Lakers.
    • 2003: Lost to the Dallas Mavericks, which was their last appearance on the holiday.
Overall
The franchise played 29 Christmas Day games in total, holding an impressive 18-11 record, with most appearances occurring before the team's move to Sacramento.

It may or may not be AI slop. What I do know is, as the NBA recognizes it's inaugural season as 1947-48, that there appears to have been at least seven defunct franchises that have played Christmas Day games, some of them against still existing franchises, and whose Christmas Day records are not listed on the graphic, which may account for (some of) the discrepancy:
  • Chicago Stags (ceased operations 1950). Played two Christmas Day games, including 1 versus the New York Knicks.
  • The original Baltimore Bullets, not the franchise which became the Washington Wizards aka the only defunct NBA franchise TTBOMK that won a championship (ceased operations 1956). Played six Christmas Day games, including 1 versus the Philadelphia Warriors (Golden State Warriors), 1 versus the Tri-Cities Blackhawks (Atlanta Hawks), 1 versus the Syracuse Nationals (Philadelphia 76ers) and 1 versus the Minneapolis lakers (Los Angeles lakers).
  • Providence Steamrollers (ceased operations 1949). Played two Christmas Day games, including 1 versus the New York Knicks.
  • Washington Capitols, also not the franchise which became the Washington Wizards (ceased operations 1951). Played four Christmas Day games, including 1 versus the Fort Wayne Pistons (Detroit Pistons) and 1 versus the Minneapolis lakers (Los Angeles lakers).
  • St. Louis Bombers (ceased operations 1950). Played three Christmas Day games, including 1 versus the Rochester Royals (Sacramento Kings).
  • Anderson Packers (ceased operations 1950). Played one Christmas Day game, versus the Syracuse Nationals (Philadelphia 76ers).
  • Indianapolis Olympians (ceased operations 1953), Played three Christmas Day games, including 1 versus the Rochester Royals (Sacramento Kings) and 1 versus the Minneapolis lakers (Los Angeles lakers).
