City Reaches Deal Over Railyards Land, Arena Plans Can Move Forward

So what exactly does this mean for the arena proposal/ Can someone elaborate for me.?
I don't pretend to know anything about all of this, but this last part of the article sounds good:

Once the city owns the land, they can move forward with development plans, which include shops and possibly a new arena for the Sacramento Kings.

But, much about this whole arena thing is where to build it, when its the financing of it that makes thing's sticky. The city of Sac already having site would help the situation,I hope:confused:

I've always believed that the best place for the city and the Kings to have the arena would be downtown. It would transform our downtown area from a total dive to respectability overnight. I hope they can come up with something and move forward now.

Forgive me for being a negative nelly but i was born here in sac and ive heard this for over 13 years. This city can't get crap done. We're aiming for the biggest and hardest proposals to get done and we all know the maloofs already have 1 foot out the door. They havent said this but any smart businessman worth his salt would have his exit already planned. This city talks everything to death. We're great at talking but when it comes to doing we drown in red tape. Throw in this horrible economy and everything looks downright undoable.
Tell me why I should be positive about anything thats happening that has to do with the kings. i want to be positive but im a realist at heart. I cant be positive just to be positive. I need legitimate reasons.

I'm generally a pessimistic person. Show me a silver lining and I'll focus on the dark clouds. ;) When it comes to the Kings, though, I'm hanging onto thin hope until something official tells me the team's leaving. Like filing papers with the league.

Really all this means is that the Railyard plans can get back on track under the new owner. This issue was a sticking point between the city and Thomas. They can now move the railroad tracks, which is pretty much a key element of any plan for the area.

To me this didn't add anything new, except it's nice to see things back on track. Inland has already indicated that they would be open to putting an arena in the Railyards. Same problem still exists, that has existed for 14years of trying to get a new arena. How will it be financed.

negative nelly...

I would love to be a glass half full, theres a silver lining to everything kinda guy. I think it would make life that much more pleasant. Unfortunately im not wired like that.
It probably has to do with my choice in favorite teams. I love the A's who happen to play in the worst stadium in MLB. It doesnt help that the most beautiful stadium in MLB is right across the bay. I love the niners who happen to play in one of the worst stadiums in the NFL. And of course the Kings.

All 3 of my teams play in horrible venues and all 3 have had 0 luck in getting a new 1 built. I attribute it to CA politics. I use to say cost of living but the Yankees and Jets/Giants just got their new stadiums. The Nets are getting theirs and Madison Square is getting a major facelift. So IMO that its the political climate. I just dont see any way to get around that. Hence my pessimistic mood when it comes to saving the kings.

This can gain some momentum through the following weeks and months resulting in something being finally planned and accepted. I know theres still so much to figure out especially the most important element of the project: financing. There's lots of folks up there starting to get nervous about the thought of the Kings leaving such as city/county officals, business owners/leaders and especially the fans. Something has to finally give. I'm crossing my fingers. Go City of Sacramento!!
