I will say this: the players all seem to love playing for him in a way that our previous tank coaches never did and the young guys/random dudes we pulled off the street all developed exponentially relative to the start of the season. Now they probably doesn’t excuse whatever the hell the first half of the year was but the lineup we intended to start the year with literally never played a game together thanks to injuries.

Plus it’s probably a year or two too early to be thinking about hiring the coach to take the team to the next level

Agreed. And the young players are getting some wins late in the season with some development. We need to add some stars to the team, but the fill in pieces and backup roles have some pieces that should work pretty well.
 
I'm at peace with this haha.

Everyone seems to like playing for him. That's about the only positive I have.

But I don't care who you are, when your only healthy vets are Deebo and Monk, you're going to be one of the worst teams in the league. The FO can reasonably kick the can down the road one more season before evaluating whether or not Christie should be here.
 
In fairness, he didn't have a single game with all of his starters.
Also, who would you honestly think would take this job? Ridiculous to call for his firing.
 
I'm perfectly content with seeing what Dougie can do with a pick from, arguably, one of the more "deeper" drafts in recent memory (well, at least one of the more "deeper top 10" drafts).
 
I’ll second Tetsujin’s sentiments and add that if you want to build a fresh team with the exciting core of players you saw winning games some fans did not want them to win at the end of the season with defense grit and playing for each other then maybe you keep the guy that coached them to see what they can do, especially if you’re going to move on from the vets that are taking up cap Space and roster space and not delivering.
 
This is the right move. Stein said there could be as many as 8 job openings this year, Kings aren’t going to be at the top of anyone’s list. Let him coach out the contract and then make a decision then.

In all seriousness, I am satisfied with Christie's performance as head coach. Be professional to the media, keep the competitive psychopaths (NBA players) from ripping each others heads off. Lose enough to get to the high end of the lottery.

His job was never to land on the moon. Mission accomplished.
 
When he had vets and youth on the team at the beginning of the season it was a disaster. The vets didn't play any D and the youth didn't play period. It was an iso sh**t show with Christie's words of fire about defense showing no connection to the performance on the floor. By chance the vets got injured, then Christie was forced to go young, not out of his own volition, but by mere chance. So because of the Fates of Chance we got to see the youngins play together at the very end, with some DDR thrown in for good measure to get a few less ping pong balls. At least in the last couple of months Christie gave the youngins the license to play in a devil-may-care attitude to lessen their anxiety about mistakes and winning or losing. I'll give him that. And I'll give him credit for keeping the team relatively happy during all of it. But, wow, our standards are about an inch above ground level if that merits an extension, much less applauding his extension.

If all the vets are gone next year, sure, I could see Christie having the stature and strength to coach the team. I can see Christie coaching a youth camp. But if Sabonis is back, then what happens to Max and Cardwell? If DDR or someone like him is back, then what? If LaVine is back what happens to Clifford? If, heaven forbid, Westbrook is back, then what of Devin Carter? Can Christie manage the rebuilding of this team with a mixture of vets and youth? He certainly hasn't proven it so far.
