My first reaction was relief that it wasn't Yo traded for Holdsclaw, since that trade has also been rumored lately. So I guess there is a Monarchs' connection after all.

I thought Holdsclaw mentioned on her ESPN interview yesterday that she wasn't sure about returning to the WNBA. Maybe she just wasn't sure about returning to DC, where all the focus was on her. In LA, she'll be playing behind Leslie, and the pressure might be reduced. If that was her problem, LA is a good fit for her.

I just wonder how well Milton-Jones has recovered from her knee surgery, and if it is true that she wanted out of LA.

Anyway, I'm breathing a sigh of relief that Yo is still a Monarch, although the rumor mill has said she's been shopped around quite a bit.

I have always coveted Holdsclaw to come and play in Sacramento. For the last two years I have preached that the Monarchs needed a offensive threat at the small forward. Chamique is the one. Unfortunately she becomes a "Lady Laker" along side LL, Teasley and Mbeka. That is a pretty potent lineup. The last time LA tried this, Malone and Payton left town with theit tails between their legs.

I'd rather Meek be in LA than Phoenix. I'm still scratching my head as to why the Mystics did not get a point guard in this deal. They may still get a decent one with either of their picks in the first round, but I don't understand why Mabika or Teasley wasn't the focal point of this deal.

If Meek comes back and plays very Meek-like basketball, I'm giving a huge edge to the Sparks on this one. We better get some more offense, quickly. Yo should come off the table after this deal, I don't see who out there is worth giving her up for. If she is still being shopped around after this, I would have to ask myself if there is a reason behind it that we don't know about. Quite frankly she should have been off the table once Tangela was dealt. However, if someone was going to give me their starting backcourt for her, I'd listen.

Why would the Monarchs even consider trading Yolanda Griffith? Is that a rumor in WNBA circles? Why trade the heart and soul of your franchise? Sure she is 35 years old. But in my view she has more passion, still grabs more rebounds, and is the unquestionable leader of this organization.

Just read this in today's edition of the Washington Post:
"Last week, the Mystics narrowed the offers for Holdsclaw to Los Angeles and Sacramento, who had offered a package that included all-star Yolanda Griffith, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations".
