Cal Expo official comments on land swap proposal (split)

I have been reading this whole land-swap thing and it took me a minute to understand, but here is what I take away from it:

-Kings and City of Sac swap Natomas land with the State for Cal Expo's current location. Cal Expo would move to Natomas and use Arco as an Expo hall.
-Private investors owning Railyards would swap it for Old Cal Expo site. Old Cal Expo site would be subdivided, sold, and developed by private investors.
-Railyard would be owned by City of Sacramento and private investors and developed with funds from Kings lease over 30 years ($300 Million) and the sale of Cal Expo site.
-New Arena would be owned by investor group for 30 years, then owned by the City of Sac.
-NBA/Kings would be forced to remain in Sacramento for the next 30 years.

Did I get it?
Yep, that's it in a nutshell.

Amazingly, all hands on deck and all on board it seems. All smiles and fingers crossed from the Maloofs, the NBA, the developers (at least two major ones), the mayor and city of Sacramento, private investors, including major international participant. It all sounds great but...

Maybe it is too good to be true as one, only one major participant was conspicuously absent from the big announcement and their stance at this crucial point is completely unknown. No representative from Cal Expo or state official has revealed where they stand on the 3-way land swap deal and after everything, all time and effort to get to this point - that's not comforting one bit.

*Breaking News: Almost as soon as I finished this a Cal Expo official spoke to the press: http://cbs13.com/local/sacramento.downtown.arena.2.1429988.html

I'm a little concernicus about increased crime rates in Natomas if this goes through. Do you think that having the fair there would make it a less attractive neighborhood to inhabit?

I live in North Natomas...Very north Natomas.... East Commerce Near almost Elkhorn.

My neighborhood is very quiet. There's been very little crime in the area that I've heard of, and I've never had a problem. "Natomas" is a broad term, becaues if you go to South Natomas it is a very different story. The neighborhoods get a lot rougher. When i refer to South natomas I mean the south side of 80. Now I'm sure some people from the south side commit crim over on the North side, but that's probably more in central Natomas.

I don't think having an event that comes once a year for one month would make an entire community less attractive to inhabit. Camrichael Dave said it best last week when he said day in and day out with Arco right now you have more traffic in and out of there than you would at Cal Expo.

The roads already handle it, the infrastructure is there, and there hasn't been many problems caused by that. Not to mention that there are just a few apartment complexes and one town home community right next to Arco. There aren't a lot of houses per se, and a neighborhood RIGHT next to the current land at Arco and the 8 acre parcel that's been talked about. It's mostly industrial there with small retail areas/restaurants etc.
