Looks like Sammy is going to Baltimore. I'm glad Cubs are getting rid of him. I wish they kept Alou though.

Go Cubs!!!
Sammy lost Cub fan loyalty. That is kind of sad. He has been the only real positive for the Cubs since...

Brad Miller may go into cardiac arrest

today on PTI Mike Wilbon didn't think they would give up Sammy and everyone knows he is a Chicago homer...he'll be shocked

I love what Sammy did for us, but he became too full of him self. I still find it hard to believe that a hard sneeze can hurt your back so much that you have to miss a whole month and not to mention his bashing of Dusty and leaving the game early (and no he wasn't seen at the near by ATM :) )

I wish him all the best, but I am actually excited to see how the team is going to be built around guys like Ramirez, Lee, Barret, Nomar, Paterson an if pitchers stay healthy.... That is still a very good team that can get far.

Giving up Sammy is tough, if he's healthy and is hitting well. Still I think the Cubs have a decent team. With some role players stepping up they can be pretty good.

I have been a life-long Cubbies fan, even though they slipped to #2 behind the Giants over 20 years ago. I did not think I would ever say this, but...good riddance Sammy. He and McGuire's home run race was largely responsible for putting fans back in the seats after the last baseball strike. However, like vj9999 said, "he became too full of himself." Because of Sammy's inflated salary, I really thought the Cubs would be stuck with his bad attitude. Like most sports, it becomes a question of "what have you done for me lately." Well, Sammy has done nothing but leave a bad taste in the mouth of many fans. Glad the Cubs could find someone to take on he and his contract.

I was a much bigger fan of Alou than Sosa and was extremely heartbroken when I heard he had been traded to San Fran. And even though trade rumors concerning Sammy have been flying for months, I was still a little surprised to hear Friday that he was gone. I'll even admit that I was hurt when he was caught with the corked bat, although I still believe it was a mistake, but don't bash on Dusty, Sammy! He put the Cubs back in contention over the last couple of years.
I don't know much about Hairston Jr. but am really looking forward to see how well he contributes.

As a side note, having been a Cubbies fan for 20 years now, I was tickled pink when news came out that Ryne Sandburg was being inducted into the hall of fame! :D
