Brown and Lowry...

What an NBADraft.net guy thinks:

Kyle Lowry - Ok, before you accuse me of being a Villanova booster (my college is the University of Wyoming; I could care less about the Big East), please believe me when I say Lowry will develop into this draft's best pure point guard. The knock on Lowry right now is height (he currently stands at 6-0) and a lack of consistency with the jumper, but guards as tough as Lowry don't come along every day. He will earn at least 15-20 minutes a night his rookie season simply because of his defensive intensity and endless energy. If Lowry ends up falling to No. 21, the Phoenix Suns could end up with the steal of the draft. Not only would Lowry be learning the nuances of the position from the game's top point guard, but he'd provide a desperately needed defensive presence in Phoenix's back-court. Plus, Lowry would allow Leandro Barbosa to concentrate exclusively on scoring.

Shannon Brown - No coach can teach this kid's physical gifts. I've seen Brown do things on a basketball court I can't even replicate in a video game. Again, his knock is his height (only 6-3 for a 2-guard), but if you can play, height is irrelevant. He has made major strides from his debut game to his finale at Michigan State, and he's still finding ways to improve. He was a sub-par mid-range shooter early in his career, but that has now become one of Brown's strengths. Spending your formative years with a coach like Tom Izzo will do wonders for one's work ethic. Look for Brown to develop into either a starting off-guard or an electrifying 6th man with the ability to put points on the board in a hurry.

I certainly don't want Lowry going to the Suns. Writer must be a Suns boy if he's singling Phoenix out to get Lowry :p. He'll be gone before Phoenix picks, especially with the Knicks, Kings, Pacers all there before them.

why would the suns draft a point guard when they have diaw handling the ball when nash isnt on the court?

To have an actual back-up PG, Diaw there or not, and a small guard that can defend. They (and us) are going to need someone who can stay with the Parkers, Terrys, Bibbys, Billups of the league. House isn't a PG, Barbosa isn't a PG, neither are defenders. They're both undersized SGs that can of course handle the ball.

But, the reason why I don't think they draft Lowry? Lowry isn't the best shooter, he has a jumper, but it's not consistent enough yet. That can of course be worked on. Also is likely gone by the time they pick. Honestly, I see them drafting one of Sene (they're high on him)/Ser-Rod/Diaz.

With Barbosa's improvement this past season I can't see a backup PG getting very much time in Phoenix.

If we just want a point guard that can defend we already have one on the roster in Jason Hart. He lacks consistency on the offensive end but the dude gets in the opponents grill and won't give an inch. I prefer to go big and there are a few guys that will be there when we pick.

I agree on the defense point. Defense-only didn't look so good this year with Jason Hart, which is why I would rather go big or get a scoring-friendly combo guard like Douby/Brown/Diaz

Lowry is not going to be Jason Hart. I predict he'll be on another level or two than Hart's been, and is a better prospect coming out of college than Hart. Lowry has a lot more offensive talent than Hart does, is more athletic, and isn't mainly a defensive guard like Hart. Lowry's jumper will only improve as he works on it over the summer. It's not too bad right now, from what I've gathered. Lowry also shows much more emotion. Not in relation to Hart, Lowry's drive and competitiveness will support his game improvement.

The reason why I want/like Lowry is because he's a two-way guard. Something Hart was brought in to be like B-Jax was becuase of his time in charlotte, but didn't work out obviously.

That said, I'd be just as pleased getting Diaz/Douby/Brown.
