SALT LAKE CITY -- Dee Brown will spend his next season in Turkey.

Brown decided over the weekend to accept an offer from Turkish club Galatasaray rather than try to make the Utah Jazz roster in training camp, agent Henry Thomas said Monday.
"At this point, he realizes that this is where it is for him," Thomas said.
Brown hopes he can catch another NBA team's attention while in Turkey and return to the league in fall 2008.
The Jazz are stocked at point guard and were unlikely to have room for Brown, who played 49 games as a rookie last season. Utah signed guards Ronnie Price and Jason Hart over the summer, giving them two backups to starter Deron Williams.
Brown, who played with Williams at Illinois, was a restricted free agent, but Utah wasn't offering him a guaranteed contract.

Good for him. Good team in a solid league. Will play Euroleage or ULEB cup too. Will play my old teammate when he plays against Fenerbahce.... and then he will get lit from 3pt range like it's noone's business. :)

The thing about Brown is that he's just not a "sexy" NBA prospect at all--he's short, only a hair above athletically, lacks wingspan to the nth degree, and doesn't have a definite strength skill wise. He can act as floor general and tone the game down, but his court vision and passing skills for a pure point need definite improvement. He can shoot the ball at times, but he's really, really streaky. His decision making--shooting when he should pass, for example--is something to be desired. I think the sole reason he was overhyped was because of his speed--yes, he's a jet, that's for sure--but speed can only get you so far in the league. In fact, I didn't really expect him to be drafted and expected him to go direct to Europe--if we were focusing on physical tools/skills instead of namesake/college accolades such as playing for a good college team, I don't think he would cut it. That being said, there are a lot of variables to take into account in the minds of GMs, but to me Dee Brown got exposed. He's had first dip rookie year with the Jazz--yes, he didn't get many chances--but when he did, 32% FGs, 21% 3FGs, 64% FTs? Yes, he can't shoot.

he is coming to an utterly average basketball team of an utterly average league. it is not like he is going to barcelona of spain. so, for him, nothing to write home about. he will probably enjoy the night life and the beauty of istanbul; that might be his greatest benefit.
