SEATTLE -- The Seattle SuperSonics added Scott Brooks, Mark Bryant and Ralph Lewis to their coaching staff Thursday and hired Brian Keefe as a player development assistant.
"I'm really happy with the diverse coaching and playing experience of our staff," new coach P.J. Carlesimo said in a statement. "I know it will be an extremely hard working staff, and we're all really looking forward to continuing the development of our veteran players and working with the rest of our talented young roster."
Brooks joins the Sonics after serving as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings last season. The 42-year-old interviewed for Seattle's head job before Carlesimo got it. Brooks also has spent three seasons as an assistant with the Denver Nuggets and played 11 years in the NBA with seven teams.
Bryant began coaching in the league in the 2004-05 as an assistant with the Mavericks and spent last season as the assistant for player development with the Orlando Magic. The 42-year-old spent 15 seasons as a player in the NBA with 10 teams from 1988-2003, helping Portland reach the NBA Finals in 1990 and 1992. Bryant played for Carlesimo at Seton Hall, and again for the Trail Blazers from 1988-95, where Carlesimo coached from 1994-97.
Lewis returns for a third season with Seattle after serving on the staff of former coach Bob Hill.
Keefe comes from the San Antonio Spurs, where he was a video coordinator and worked with Carlesimo and new Sonics general manager Sam Presti.
