Brian Grant

What were your feelings about this guy when he was drafted, during his stay with Sac, and the way he departed? Didn't he have some falling out with Kings fans or am I thinking of someone else?

Very simple. He thought he was worth a lot more money than the Kings' manangement and fans thought he was worth. No bad feelings, just an "understanding" issue. We were right, the fans, that is.

I always loved the Rasta Monster. But that is just me.

I remember when he arrived his nickname was "The General". He had really short hair and I dont think he even had 1 tatoo.

I loved watching BG because you knew he and Micheal "The Animal" Smith would leave everything out on the court.

He worked really hard for us, but was energy prone. Pissed me off when he jumped ship for a bigger contract then we could do. Ever since then I haven't liked him. Now, that he is a Laker, I really dont like him.

I liked him a lot while he was here. As slugking said he and Michael Smith brought a new attitude to the team, and with it, some hope.

I was sad to see him go, but I've always rooted for him to do well elsewhere. Now that he's a Laker, I still wouldn't mind him having some personal success.

Brian Grant was really an ex-King??? Sorry, been a Kingsfan since J-Will arrived....

Was he traded or he signed to another team(Blazers)? Honestly I like also the young Blazers at that time (Sheed,Grant,Damon,Sabonis,Walt,Rider) the lockout season, along with the Kings...They beat Utah that year somehow, and the Brian Grant band-aid was famous then... ;) Too bad after that year the Blazers become from young and promising team to an all-star cast depleted team...

But right now Brian Grant is fading...He should stayed in the Kings...:)

That year we drafted Grant was the first year you could actually sense that there was going to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Oh and I liked Grant quite a bit and I remember being somewhat ticked that he went to Portland for a few bucks more...even after he went there though I never really hated the guy. I think I always kinda like an ex King if they contributed some positive time here.

Personaly I never blamed Grant for going to Portland. It's not like he was making huge money in Sac or was even over paid. Like most young middling players there are no gaurentees how long he would play and was not exactly "set for life." The non-stars of any sport have a very few years to essentialy make enough to live off of the rest of their life. Some have fine careers after their career is over but again there are no gaurnetees.

I guess I became acutely aware of this when I was a sophmore in college and one of my class mates was a retired major leage pitcher. He played 4-5 years in the majors. Had afew seasons in the minors and worked as a pitching coach for a minor leage team. He and his family of 4 lived avery modest middle class life style. He was very up fornt about pro-athleets usualy NOT having a plan B and how their lives after playing were more often than not very dissapointing.

Any way I have been pleased to see Grant do well although it is a shame to see him foced to wear yellow and lavender as he nears the end of his days on court.
