The state Senate narrowly approved a long-overdue $103 billion budget Tuesday, ending a 52-day delay that stopped payments to vendors and threatened scores of state-supported health-care facilities with closure.

I didn't want to post the entire article and have this dissolve into a political discussion. I did think, however, the fact the impasse is over was note-worthy, especially for our board members who are state employees wondering when they'd finally get their paychecks.

I think the state workers got their checks. It was the state vendors who had contracted with the state, that went without a check.
Glad it's over too. Now those morons can screw up the next batch of bills. :D (notice, I'm laughing....ha,ha,ha...)

Glad to hear the procedure regarding state employees has changed. When I worked for the state a couple of decades ago you didn't get a paycheck if the budget went more than 30 days without being signed..

Last time we went without checks, the union sued in court and the court said it was illegal for the Governor to require employees to work without pay, basically.:)
