Randy Winn...

Now get this...

For Jesse Foppert and Yorvit Torealba.

Sabean, I have lost 100% of my faith in you. Tell me Giants fans, is Jerome Williams, Jesse Foppert, David Aardsma, and Yorvit Torealba for Randy Winn and LaTroy Hawkins just a great deal for the Giants?

Not only is it the prospects gone that I'm mad about, it's the fact we now have an ridiculous amount of outfielders...Alou/Tucker/Grissom/Ellison/Winn/Bonds(DL)/Sanchez(DL)

This one makes Williams/Aardsma for Hawkins look like a steal...

I don't envy Giants fans so long as Sabean calls the shots. IMHO the successes the Giants have seen in recent years have been in spite of Sabean rather than because of him. If I were Giants fan, I'd be calling for his head.

This tore it for me.

Why the heck do you trade your young prospects for middle of the road guys, when your team is in it's current situation.

Is winning the division, despite being 5 games below .500, and getting swept by the Cards in the first round truley even worth Foppert/Williams/Aardsma/Torrealba?

Thats even if we make the PO's.

Sabean still has a chance to semi-redeem himself on this year trading in the next 14 hours...I definatly see more movement...Probably Alfonzo, but he's the 32 year old middle of the road vetran, so it'll probably be Feliz, the younger, more talented, still could get better, type of player... I'm sure you can package Feliz with top pitching prospects Merkin Valdez and Matt Cain and get a quality middle of the road 4th starter from someone...Hey, why not even throw in Ellison, and maybe get a 4th starter and maybe a 34 year-old backup utilityman?! Sounds like a plan! Pull the trigger, Sabean.

I'll ease up until tommorrow, though.

Sabean is trading away every prospect we have...next we'll hear Matt Cain is getting shipped out. It's one thing to say we need to win now in Barry's last years, but it's another thing to give up our best prospects for absolutely nothing that will ever help us win a ring. I guess we're just making trades to add years to our roster.

Merkin Valdez, Matt Cain, and Jason Ellison to Minnesota for Joe Mays, Terry Mullholland, and Juan Castro.

:D

Totally kidding, but lets hope Sabean doesn't stumble upon this...

Looks like the cross-bay rivals are in opposite situations with their GMs.

A's = genius

Giants = complete idiot

funny how that corralates to football owners

Raiders = loves team

49ers = couldnt care less about team

im sorry to everyone who is a san fran fan. at least for now. im sure itl change...in 15 years or so.

I think Sabean is smart, he's just getting desperate to put a good team around Barry. We've had a good team every year since Sabean has come here, are regulars in the playoffs and have an NL pennant to show for it. I hope that once Barry is gone we'll shift gears and build a contender from a different direction.

And as for the Niners, that just makes me sad.

Well, 20 minutes to go before the deadline, and Sabean hasn't done anything to redeem himself....

There just has to be SOMETHING, why do we need 6 outfielders?!

The deadline has passed, and Sabean is now officially an idiot...

We have 5 outfielders, with Bonds being on the DL...Ellison's growth is going to be stunted as Winn is now the new starter. And Winn/Ellison are nearly identical players at this point anyways! Winn may be a bit better with the bat, but I want Ellison getting all his AB's now. All three outfield positions are going to be constantly filled, forcing Feliz to be 3B ONLY, and that means we have the seven million dollar contract of Alfonso just sitting on the bench.

The pitching which was supposed to get be improved is identical, and STILL HAS KIRK RUETER in the rotation. 3-8, 6.00 ERA's should not be in the starting rotation, but WAIT! HE has "Good stuff" his last outing...Yea, the outing where he gave up 5 runs in 4.2 innings...Glad to have you still Rueter!

And the future...Well the future just had an entire appendage ripped from it's body this past year losing 4 potential future good players.

Im frustrated beyond belief.

Down with Sabean.

I feel badly for you, SLAB. I'd be firing off angry e-mails to anyone who'd listen right now, especially the ownership. As much as I dislike the Giants, they are a proud and storied franchise, and it's painful to see them in these circumstances. By putting all his eggs in Bonds' basket, Sabean doesn't have much room to maneuver, but this trade isn't a maneuver, it's a blunder. Perhaps it's time to nuke the team, and rebuild from scratch, starting with the GM.

I've been calling for a comlete youth movment, since the emergence of Niekro and Ellison. We also have a few more outfield prospects that may turn out big, in Todd Linden and Eddy Martinez-Esteve.

I thought to myself, we have an excellent pitching rotation of the future. Williams/Lowry/Foppert/Hennseey/Correia...Aardsma was considered a closer of the future...Trade the vets for youngsters, and play them this year, they may be bad, but they'll be more prepared for when Bonds does come back next year.

ARG! Down with Sabean!

I think his biggest mistake was not going after Vladimir Guerrero when they had somewhat of a chance.

This move is really nothing big and does little to help or hurt the Giants. Sabean is somewhat like Petrie in that he prefers to bring in veterns and established players.

He is still a good GM IMO. As said above the Giants had a nice run, looks like they need to start looking towards the future after Barry.

As much as I like our young guys, I honestly think Foppert and Aardsma aren't going to be as good as billed. I'm really bummed about Jerome leaving, I had high hopes for him. Hennessey might do something, and we've still got Cain. But yeah, our future is looking rather bleak right now.

Blah...

The Giants make this trade to tool up for their post-season run, and for the eventual return of Bonds.

This just in, Bonds says dont expect me in 05...

Sigh...

yah that trade sucked

i'm gonna miss torry, he was the best backup in the game. i'm not all that upset about foppert leaving, he never looked as good as he was hyped, and with his motion, i think he's going to battle arm injuries his whole career. '

why the hell would sabean go after ANOTHER OF?!?!?! beyond bizarre. he's not even a power hitter!!!! and his D isn't great. i did read somewhere that sanchez was going to be released which would be welcome. i wouldn't mind seeing grissom released as well.

rueter also needs to go. i can't believe he still thinks he's good enough to start. he is so done. i'm tired of these middle line starters, GET SOMEONE GOOD this winter sabean. resign schmidty, and sign AJ burnett. then this team might be a threat, if bonds comes back healthy next year. the pen has settled down, they've improved. munter has been a great surprise. eyre has been great, i'd like to see aacardo back up. i'm not a corriea fan. i want niekro starting!!!! ellison too!

Two years ago, I was playing a baseball sim (OOTP) and traded for a young pitcher from the Giants system names Jesse Foppert. Only vaguely follow baseball anymore, so knew he existed, but didn't know much about him other than my scout thinking he was a great prospect (this was before his injury). Well, Jesse Foppert went on to become the ace of aces in that league -- won the Cy Young 4 or 5 times, won 300 games before he was done in career. Best pitcher in the game. :)

I remember seeing Foppert's first game on TV, I think he pitched the ninth in a blowout game. He looked really great that season but has been going downhill since. 300 wins now seems like a little bit of a stretch.

Evanstar, you really have to look at this through managments eyes...

Young and full of potential = Very bad

While...

Crappy, old, and only getting worse = Good!!!

That being said, I have a perfect solution for our rotation...Aaron Sele!!! He is 35, has a 6-12 record, and a ERA of 5.66!!! GET'R'DUN!

and did you know, Rueter did have "Great stuff" his last outing, securing his place in the rotation...Yes, I am talking about the outing where he gave up 5 runs in 4.2 innings...And also, why shouldn't someone who is 2-7 with a 6.00 ERA be in your rotation?! Taking him out would just be stupid.

And my assesment of players stated earlier applies to Nucksy and Ellison...Remember, Snow is the aging vetran, Niekro is the best rookie the Giants have had in years....Obviously Snow deserves to sap Nucksy of all his playing time and stunt his development. Same with Winn and Ellison. Throw Grissom into that mix, and Ellison has like, no time.

And Sabean has something against Ellison, also. Speaking of how he "will wear down as time goes on, and eventually start being lkess productive, and only get worse." OR something along those lines...I paraphrased, but he said something of that nature.

espn.com is saying bonds is done for the year.

Feliz-Winn-Alou isn't a bad outfield. Tucker and Grissom are solid subs.

Even with bonds being out, the Giants could make the playoffs in the west.

and i have no idea why. ok so he's struggled a little, but seriously, what rookie doesn't?!?!?! it's riduculous.

i think sabean is going for the win now mode, and that means no rookies. he has to do that because of bonds. he has to surround bonds with proven talent to win.

that being said, with the season shot, and bonds not coming back, i want to see the rookies take their lumps. theres no pressure to win right now. let them struggle so they can come back next year when it matters, they'll know how to deal with the pressure then.

but NO we have to have these retreads who no one else wants......

thats the big reason i've only gone to 2 giants games this year. i love my team, but i can't justify paying the extreme ticket prices they are charging when managment isn't doing anything to take a step forward. i'm hitting them where it hurts ( in a sense)

i'll pay when they pay. AJ burnett this offseason!!!!!!!!!

I guess we have to learn...Rookies are bad, and players that have established a career of mediocrity, ala Randy Winn, are good.

I'm done though...I'm gonna quit stressing over this.

Sabean's an idiot, and nothing I say or do will change that.
