Lakers topped Hawks, Lakers really don’t seem to have any interest in tanking, do they even own their own pick? Hawks were never in any danger of winning. Hawks remain in virtual tie for first, Lakers are almost out of it with 26 wins, now. Lakers may wind up with 30+ wins.

Except for the second quarter, the Nets had a relatively easy time putting away the Bulls. Bulls and Nets are both 2 games back in the win column, now.

Grizzlies closed the gap in the second half after trailing at the half by 26 against the Celtics, but were never in any real danger of not getting the LIN. Grizzlies are also virtually tied for first.

Knicks kept it close against the Warriors in the first half, only trailing by 1, but came through in the second half with an 18 point 3rd quarter to secure the LIN.

Apparently the 3rd quarter is the LIN quarter for the LIN teams (see Magic and Kings below). Suns were outscored by 14 in the 3rd quarter by the Pelicans to put away the LIN in an otherwise close game.

Magic secured the LIN with a sub-par performance in the 3rd quarter to secure the LIN against the Thunder.

Mavs apparently decided to throw the Commissioner’s office off the LIN scent and sacrificed a LIN to smooth things over. Mavs kept it close but in the end won the game against the Pacers. Mavs fall one game out of first, I doubt Cuban is a happy camper.

Kings kept pace with the Timberwolves for 3 quarters of the game. Guess which quarter they were doubled up on the score? (Hint: It was the 3rd. Not sure what is up with that 3rd quarter and the LIN teams). Kings remain in a virtual tie for first place.

Three LIN teams are in action tonight with no head-to-head competitions. All three teams are on the road and should pull out the LIN.

Bulls at Hornets

Nets at Cavs

Kings at Trailblazers

Bulls at Hornets. Bulls led after 1st quarter, but after that Hornets had no problem putting away the Bulls. Bulls with the LIN.

Nets at Cavs. Nets kept it close, but pulled out the LIN. Hill, 37 minutes, 26 points, 5 assists.

Kings at Trailblazers. Kings pick up the LIN against the Trailblazers. Lillard with 26 points and 10 assists. Cauley-Stein with a double-double, 17 points, 10 rebounds in 31 minutes. However, it is rumored that WCS may have smiled and said hello to Lillard, thus costing the Kings any chance at a win. Intrepid reporter James Ham will investigate and have a follow-up before Thursday night’s game.

Five teams with 18 wins are in a virtual tie for 1st, Mavs dropped to 1 back with their Monday night win. After tonight, there will be at least one less 18-win team.

Tonight’s games:

Head-to-head competition tonight between two first place 18 win teams, Suns at Grizzlies. One of these teams will have 19 wins and fall a game back after tonight. Smart money is on Suns picking up the LIN.

Raptors at Magic. Magic may keep it close for a half or more, but Raptors should ultimately prevail, giving the Magic the LIN.

Pacers at Hawks. Hawks should be favored to pick up another LIN.

Thunder at Mavs. Will Mavs resume their tanking ways?

Well our own Kings are tied at the top with the Magic for the top losing percentage and the Grizzlies are right there with the same 18 wins but one less loss.

Pacers comeback fell short and cost the Hawks the LIN and a tie for the top spot in the LIN Championship. Hawks are now one game back.

Grizzlies may be a key player in the LIN Championship, they found a way to pick up the LIN against the Suns, whose play of late had made them a favorite. The win by the Suns dropped them one game back, percentage points ahead of the Hawks and Mavs.

Magic handily achieved the LIN against Raptors and held on to the top spot along with the Kings.

Mavs got back to their LINNING ways, but it took an overtime for them to achieve the 1-point LIN against the Thunder.

Only one LIN game tonight, our own 18 win Sacramento Kings will go up against the 20 win Nets in a head-to-head. Nets without a pick, so they are playing for pride only. Big question for Kings, who on Nets will Cauley-Stein be friendly with tonight.

It's always the team with no hope that likes to play spoiler for the upcoming teams. Look for the Nets to really give us some easy buckets this game.

Kings fell to 1 game back of the Magic and the Grizzlies with their win over the Nets. They are tied with Hawks and Mavs percentage point behind Suns.

Tonight’s games:

Head-to-head Mavs at Bulls, one of these teams will fall 1 game further back after tonight.

Pistons at Magic, more than likely Magic will maintain their hold on the top spot for at least one more night.

Warriors at Hawks, Hawks should get the LIN.

Nuggets at Grizzlies, Nuggets not a good road team, could the Grizzlies lose out on the LIN?

Thunder at Suns, Suns are still bad.

Knicks at Clippers Knicks much like the Lakers have probably fallen too far back to be a serious contender.

Head-to-head Mavs at Bulls, Mavs out LINNED the Bulls. Mavs remain 1 game out, Bulls fall to 3 games back.

Pistons at Magic, Magic slip up and fail to get the LIN over the Pistons. Mavs fall out of 1st and are now 1 game back.

Warriors at Hawks, as expected Hawks got the LIN, and stay close 1 game back.

Nuggets at Grizzlies, Grizzlies kept the game close, but got the LIN in the end. Grizzlies are now in sole possession of 1st place. Five teams are 1 game back.

Thunder at Suns, Suns are still bad, but they led at the half by 7 and by 2 after 3, but their salvation was a 17 point 4th quarter versus the Thunder’s 27. Suns with the LIN.

Knicks at Clippers Knicks kept their slim hope alive with the LIN against the Clippers. After leading by 2 at the half, they were put away in the 2nd half 71 – 45 by the Clippers.

Lakers (27 wins) are for all practical purposes eliminated, they have no interest in tanking and it appears they are on their way to a 30+ win season. Even if they went into the tank and it was of epic proportions, I don’t see them moving past anybody but possibly the Knicks. Maybe this time next year we can say the Kings are well on their way to a 30+ win season (yes, I know, there will be people on here calling for heads to roll if Kings are not in playoff contention next year. Not happening, yet, baby steps people, baby steps).

Tonight’s games:

Head-to-head: Grizzlies at Magic, Magic need the LIN to pull the Grizzlies back to the pack and keep from falling 2 games back. Can they pull it off?

Jazz at Kings. This game will be challenging for the young Kings. Jazz are physical, hungry (2 games back of the Nuggets for the last playoff spot), and needing the win. Jazz were playing extremely well before the All-Star break winning 11 straight, but have fallen on hard times since. However, they may be back to form after a raucous duel with the Timberwolves that featured 3 ejections (including KAT in the first half). Jazz won 116 – 108.

King will probably be without Cauley-Stein, listed as doubtful with a re-occurrence of a back-strain problem. Without WCS, Randolph and Koufos will have to pick up the slack against Gobert who had his way with the Timberwolves after KAT’s ejection, a tall order. Although Randolph is a sieve on defense, he does seem to thrive in a physical confrontation.
