I can finally breathe!!! (I think I was getting a little light headed the last couple of minutes of the game). I am so proud of this team for doing everything we knew they were capable of doing. I don't think I will sleep tonight either 6th...

OK....If you don't already have tickets, please go buy them....

I'm glad I pre-purchased mine......:D
I got mine already last week!!!

ANALYSIS
Tangela - MVP!!!!!!

Yo - Leadership, big boards, staus quo...heart of a lion

Ticha - All around steady play....floor generalship (OFF THE HOOK!!!)

Kara - Unbelievable poise. Hit clutch shots...should have busted Mabika in the mouth ;) , but none the less was productive every minute on the floor.

DeMya - Great hustle, no crucial mistakes, played under control, great game 17 BIG POINTS.

Edna, Rebecca, Ruthie = All solid contributions

But I thought the unsung hero tonight...TANTY (FREAKIN) MAIGA. Her defense and hustle, absolutely set the tone on the defensive side. She had at least three unbelievable hustle plays that seemed to come at just the right moment. She provided a huge spark off the bench, and I don't even think she scored.

Tanti had 2 pts, 0 rebs, 1 asst, and 5 freakin steals. I agree that Tanti's defense off the bench sparked the team to play tougher and tougher defense.

Great TEAM win!!!

We know how great our team is....And I'm so glad they played their hearts out and proved to themselves how great they really are......:)

We know the media (Ann Meyers et al) will say oh the Sparks just weren't on their game. And the Monarchs just got lucky.....Well you know what...on any given day anyone can win it, and today was OUR day!!!!!

Wahoo....gotta wash my Tangela shirt when I get home so it's all ready for Friday night!!!!:D

Is it just me and my aging ears, or does it seem like Ann Meyers is an LA homer. I know her old man (RIP) pitched for the Dodgers in the 20's, but MAN!!! she made up more excuses for LA tonight. She was worst in game 1. She seems to have no objectivity.

Well, I guess this time we get to win and go home! (Y)

I think that Coach Whiz made a smart decision to have Maïga playing Mabika for the bulk of the second half; she didn't get a good shot while Maïga was on her. In fact, I was worried that LA was going to go on a run when Mabika hit that shot with about five minutes left; I was thinking to myself "get Maïga back in right now."

Now we have to look ahead to Seattle; you know, the same aspects of our defense that was a strength against Los Angeles will be a weakness against Seattle... our defense tends to allow a lot of open shots from the perimeter, which is what the Storm's strength is. Even Jackson is more dangerous outside than she is down on the blocks.

One hour later: So this is it? This is what beating LA feels like. I imagined it being better. ;). But enough about LA, how about them Monarchs. I have never been prouder, last season was the bar, but this, the whole season, their play down the stretch, their play in the playoffs, far exceeds it.

Since the "'narchs extinguished the sparks" I guess we can look towards "calming the storm" ( eh, I gave it a shot ;)). Sue Bird is up in the air, who knows if she'll play. I going to say yes, but she won't be at 100%. LJ, is well LJ a tremendously talented player, they are as deep as we are and as already pointed out, they can shoot the ball. Let's see what schemes the coaching staff puts together. :D

Go Monarchs!

Everyone was absolutely great tonight!!! Tangela has been great the whole series, DeMya played to her potential tonight, Kara was clutch, Maiga was awesome on defense and showed major heart, and Yo was Yo. These ladies still seemed focused after this win and know that they have to win two more series before they can truly celebrate! Keep it up, we're soooo proud of you ladies!!!

I'm with you Rein....last year after the win over Houston I was up all night. Now its time to get down to business.

I'm about to fire up the TiVo and see what the game looked like. Just fast fowarding to the end of the game and seeing some of the highlight reel they showed of some plays Maiga made. WOW. I need to savor this a little longer.

The Seattle Storm...one factor. We have GOT to shut down the Monarch killer Sheri Sam. Unless the surgery she is having is extensive, I expect to see Bird play. She played a good chunk of last year with very bad knees - so she's a gamer. The Monarchs should have at the worst split the season series with Seattle - they gave back their first meeting after they worked so hard to come back from a 20something point first half deficit to take a pretty decent lead late and cough it up. They could have beaten them in their meeting in mid July during their matinee game. They just played like they did on Sunday and refused to take control of that game late. So I don't feel necessarily that Seattle is all that dominant as their season series record suggests. They gotta get a good game plan and focus enough to execute it and they should be fine in this series. If they defend like they did in games 1 and 3, they are going to be hard to beat regardless of who steps up to them. Oh, and they might want to tighten up on the penetration and maybe try to figure out how to keep Vodichkova and Lennox off the glass. LJ really doesn't get to the glass like Leslie and Thomas do.

Party up tonight and come home and get right back to work ladies.

way to go Monarchs

Demya was great tonight. Lawson sure hung tough and managed to get under their skin. I love it! When Mabika slammed at Kara's ball after the whistle, I think they should have just tossed her. Very unsportsmanlike.Dixon looked like she was ready to go off on Kara a couple times too.I would not want to get in a fight with Kara.

WOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!

What a game I LOVED it!!! We finally extinguished the Sparks!!!!!!The Narchs showed who was the tougher team out there while the Sparks caved to the pressure! I was screaming my head off, dancin, being nervous, and just going nutz!! I still cannot believe it:D

Ive been a critic of Tangela's for years. For years shes not performed to her abilities but this series she was awesome! Keep it up!!!

Ticha, I was going nutz screaming at her to drive and shoot but she was pretty hesitant out there. She needs a big kick in her rear end!

Ruthie and Ticha, for those 2 ladies. That win means alot. They both have been through those 4 defeats to the Sparks the last few years Ruthie has been here since the beginning. Its not over yet. Still aways to go:D

Ann Meyers has always been a Sparks and LL homer. Its absolutely sickening!!!! Last night was her most homeristic game ever! It was soo painful to listen to.

Grag Anthony was almost as bad. They both made excuse after excuse for the Sparks while hardly giving the Monarchs any credit whatsoever!!!

I did enjoy listening to them go from 'Given the past history of these two teams in the Play Offs, the Sparks should have no trouble advancing' to start the game, a litany of 'the Monarchs have never defeated the sparks in a play off series' (which they threw in every 2 minutes or so, just in case you might not have caught it the previous 20 billion times) to their final 'The Monarchs have never PREVIOUSLY beaten the sparks in a play off series'. Ok, so I didn't enjoy it much at the time, but I'm lmao about it now:D

Wow-did our gals really just beat the best team in the WNBA?? I think this goes down as the best playoff win in M history, don't you think?? Here they were at the beginning of the season in the duldrums, everything against them, who could of predicted that they would be able to pull off a comeback like this!! I am so proud of our team and so jazzed about the next round!!

Sheesh! From the broadcast team, all the info I could get was that LA was playing some other team -- when they mentioned the score it was "LA is down by three" or "LA needs to get back in this game."

However, I'm sure Greg Anthony will never pair with Ann Meyers again -- he outright contradicted her regarding Sacramento's front court and he even boldly predicted that the Monarchs will go on to win the championship.

I do not understand how Ann Meyers continues to be allowed to participate in a nationally-broadcast game involving the Sparks. Surely there are other broadcasters available. If not, how about having Krista Blunk sub in? Then the Sparks would get a taste of their own medicine....

GO MONARCHS!!!!
