Bibby hurt in first game with Hawks

By Sports Network

Atlanta Hawks guard Mike Bibby suffered a right ankle injury in the third quarter of Tuesday's 122-93 loss to the LA Lakers.

Bibby was acquired by the Hawks in a trade on Saturday. He joined the team from Sacramento in exchange for guards Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue, forward Shelden Williams, center Lorenzen Wright and a second-round pick in the 2008 draft.

Bibby has also been hampered by a thumb injury this season that has limited him to 16 games, and is averaging 13.5 points and five assists. He scored just five points in his Hawks' debut.

Injuries just plague this guy this season, he may not play in today's game, feel sorry for the guy. Hopefully, he could play through pain and everyone will get a glimpse of him in a Hawks uniform in Arco Arena.

Hrm...

Aside from Webber, we have:

Doug Christie traded and he's out with basically a career-ending injury
Peja Stojakovic traded and he's out for an entire year after a poor showing in Indiana and still doesn't look right
Vlade Divac not re-signed and he's pretty much out because of recurring back problems
Now Mike?

So is it true? Can Geoff Petrie smell the milk going bad, so to speak, a day before everyone else?

;)

And yes, I'm kidding but it certainly seems that this happens more often with Petrie than anywhere else.

hedo, mobley, barnes, evans and wallace are still playing...

Bibby questionable for tonight

SACRAMENTO - Hawks point guard Mike Bibby is listed as questionable for tonight’s game against his former team here, Hawks coach Mike Woodson just told me as the Hawks began their shootaround practice.

That’s more bad news for the Hawks, who are still smarting from Tuesday night’s 122-93 head-buster administered by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bibby hurt his right heel in third quarter against the Lakers and did not return to the game. He was on the floor during shootaround, but going half speed and wearing warm ups and a t-shirt instead of his practice gear.

Woodson said that if Bibby can’t go, rookie Acie Law IV will get the starting nod.

Law was actually one of the few bright spots for the Hawks Tuesday, scoring a career-high 16 points in 32 minutes of relief action.

In fact, the Hawks’ bench helped make things somewhat respectable with their second half effort against the Lakers. Josh Childress piled up 16 points and Zaza Pachulia 12 and 12 rebounds. Jeremy Richardson added eight, including making both of his 3-point shot attempts.

I know it may be tough for people to grasp this concept, but the Hawks have to lean on these cats now more than ever. They not only have to play a huge role, they have to play increased and consistent minutes to develop any sort of chemistry as a unit.

Without them playing at their helter-skelter best, it’s going to be a monumental task trying dig back into the playoff mix for the remainder of this season.

And doing that requires Woodson putting trust and some serious faith in his reserves to do the jobs they’re being paid for.

One could also argue that the Mikki Moore signing when we had SAR and KT may also have been a sign that GP could feel the forces of nature turning SAR's knee to jellay and Kenny's attitude from crap to compost. ;)
