Second that. Didn't know he had this in him. Too bad for the late 2 turnovers. But a nice game non the less.
This kind of production should subside once Reke is back but have fun while it lasts Beno!
I knew he had it in him, the only thing that was stopping him was the rebounds. He is a good rebounder for a guard, but guards rarely hit double digit rebounds. Congrats to Beno !! He is really showing the team and Paul Westphal something while Tyreke is on the mend. Beno is telling the coach that he can carry the load if the need arises. PW isn't going to forget this flurry of games that Beno has had or how well Beno has played. Beno not only set up his team mates, but he scored at a good rate and he even out-rebounded everyone but Thompson. Great to see Beno step up his game when his team needed it.
I think most of us thought that last year was a sign that Beno was a one season wonder and that he would not play up to his contract, but he was injured a lot last season. He is healthy this season though, and has more that earned the money they paid him! He is playing like a starting point guard should! So happy to see Beno get a TRIP-DUB! He earned it and that must feel pretty good for him. It wasn't a cheapo either (18/10/15) ! The Rebounds must have been the hardest for a 6'3" guard. He and Evans are going to make a great back court for years to come! Beno outside and Evans inside will just eat defenses for lunch!
Considering how short handed the Kings were, they put up a good fight. It was next to impossible to win with the best player in the NBA on the other team, but the Kings didn't fold their tent. They played hard and made Cleveland work for the win. I am very happy with the effort in this game and I hope the Kings continue to exert this kind of effort for the remainder of the season. JT's Double Double (16/14/1) was a nice surprise after a string of not so good games on this road trip.
Donte Greene turned in another Disturbingly poor effort. This is like his 4th or 5th bad game in a row. I hope he isn't injured because he was really coming on before this rash of bad games. Instead of using these last few games to show management that he deserves to start at the small forward position, Donte is going backwards in his development. No baskets and only 3 rebounds in 27 minutes are not typical, and Greene usually plays better than that. I don't know what is going on with him. Maybe he is injured? Or is it possible that he's just in a funk? I don't know but he hasn't brought that fire off the bench like he had done all season. I hope Donte gets out of his funk and has a good game next time out.
I was very entertained by this game and even though I didn't feel at any time during the game that the Kings would win, I think they competed all the way to the end! That is the most important thing is that they competed. A lot of teams at this point in the season are tuning out their coach and just mailing in their effort, but not the Kings. Westphal is getting through to these young guys and they are learning slowly how to be NBA players and how to play team basketball. They are all giving good effort and are listening to the coach. I think this will help them next year to be a better team. With another good draft pick and perhaps a good free agent or 2, the Kings are going to be a surprise team next season.
