Petrie made it crystal clear that the Kings were trying to move up to take Noah ("a big man" were his words) so obviously when that was not successful, if Noah had slipped to #10 he would have been the Kings choice. If you don't like the words, "made it clear" how 'bouts, "made it pretty damn clear."

It wasn't the writer's interjection. It was the writer's summation of Petrie's comments. Since he didn't have the exact words, he couldn't put quotes around them. Very common practice among reporters.

I also posted the night of the draft something I had been told, which was pretty much the same thing.
