I predicted this one weeks ago. I also think Nolan is gone in San Francisco and John Fox is gone in Carolina. I think Shanahan, Marvin Lewis and Dick Jauron have one season to turn things around. And I think John Gruden, Tom Coughlin and Romeo Crennel saved their jobs.

I'm curious to see how the coaching carousel affects the NFL this offseason. We already have two vacancies (Atlanta, Baltimore). I wonder what else is in store.

I'm sure Billick is going to be wanted by a lot of teams. I would love to see the 49ers to take a chance with him.

In addition to the teams that you mentioned, you also should add that the new Miami Dolphins chief of operations Bill Parcells, has just fired the Dolphins' G.M. and their scouting director. As of this writing, their coach (whatever his name is) is still there, but probably will be gone also. I don't think Parcells wants himself to coach the team, though.

So, even though the regular season has just ended, it's interesting that the coaching carousel has already begun!

Dick Jauron shouldnt be worried about his job at all. They had a rookie RB AND QB!!! they both played very well considering the situation and the Bills had a shot at the playoffs late in the season. The Bills are coming back around and Jauron will be a part of that turn around.

I agree that he had a tough go this season, and probably over-achieved, but that's why I think he'll get one more season. And he's hanging his hat on a brand new quarterback, which may or may not be a good decision. But I don't think especially with Marv Levy stepping down recently, that he has long to get that team into the playoffs.

I think Shanny is safe in Denver for a while because of his relationship with the ownership. I'm not sure he'll ever get them back on top but I think he's worth keeping around for at least 2 more seasons to develop Cutler.

Cinci should get rid of Lewis now. His players are coming out against him and they have been regressing for 2 seasons.

Cam Cameron is the Dolphins coach and word is that Parcells wants one of Dallas's assistants. I think his name is Tony Sparano. When Parcells left New England he raided the place for everyone he thought had value and brought them to the Jets. If I were a Dallas fan I'd be pretty worried about Parcells raiding their staff.

Isn't Tony Sparano an offensive assistant? The Cowboys offense is pretty much set in Dallas. Phenom Jason Garrett has them under control on that side of the ball. And on defense, Wade Phillips is a defensive guy, so whoever they lose on that side of the ball is probably replaceable as well. Bottom line is that the Cowboys have talent at the most crucial positions, so whoever their assistant coaches are, they will compete for their divisional title.

Shanahan might be safe, but I don't think he should be given a pass. If they finish below .500 next season, I think he'll be on the hot seat. Shanahan has always struck me as more of an offensive coordinator than head coach, anyways. I guess it helps having a top 10 quarterback, huh?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Marvin Lewis get the boot in Cincinatti, either. He could find himself as a defensive coordinator somewhere else in the NFL, no problem. I think he needs to take a step back and catch his breath, anyways. He's had a lot of chips on his plate up there with the Bengals, between Palmer's injury and the other off-field issues, none of which is necessarily his fault, but I don't think he'll ever be able to focus on football up there. Might as well get a fresh start somewhere else.
